IMO he doesn't have enough pop in his bat to make him an everyday outfielder. How I would like to see Dubón utilized once Tuve returns is as a super utility man much like Bill Spiers employed by the 'Stros in the '90s.

Jake has shown some improvement with the leg kick. But he's still striking out too much. He plays a hell of a CF tho.
You have to go all the way back to the 90s to find an Astros super-utility man? Did you not watch the 2017 season?jkag89 said:

Do we keep Dubon's bat in the line-up, as DH?tjack16 said:
Does Dubon become the everyday CF when Altuve comes back?

Please elaborate a bit on this because from what I see he plays a very meh CF.
He takes a bad route every now and then, gets caught napping where singles turn into doubles, and has an awful arm that guys run on every chance they get.
Yeah he covers lots of ground but IMO Jake is a liability on defense overall.
And man talking about Jake playing CF makes me remember how fun it was watching Jake Marisnick play defense.

HB getting some love in MLBs Rookie Power Rankings
3. Hunter Brown, RHP, Astros (previously unranked)
So this may have been a bit of a miss on our part. Brown was a top-50 prospect entering the year, and he had a rotation spot, at least at the start of the year. And it shouldn't surprise anybody when the Astros churn out a young pitcher who can get it done at the Major League level. Brown has struck out at least five in each of his five starts, and in three of those games he's gone seven or more innings with no more than one earned run. He's impressive.
He's played outfield since college. His mental mistakes in the outfield are in excusable at the big league level with the amount of experience he already has playing the position.Farmer1906 said:Ag_07 said:Farmer1906 said:

Of course.
Jake's jump (combo of reaction, burst, and route) is elite. He is currently 9th in baseball in feet traveled in the correct direction vs the avg OFer. He goes 2.4 feet to the average players 1 in the first 3 seconds. Then you add in his elite speed after the jump. His sprint speed is in the 96%. That combo means he gets to and makes plays most don't. He has 3 OAA which is tied for 4th for OFers even without being a full time starter. There have been 2 plays he hasn't made this season and both were potential 5* catches (0-25% probability). He's perfect on 1, 2, & 3* catches. Then we get to the "noodle" arm. I think he's finally healthy because that noodle's average is 88.2 MPH, tied with Tucker. He topped out at 97.6 which puts him 9th hardest for OFers with at least 50 throws.
He speed and jump have always been good. The arm is improving. As he gets more experience I think we'll see fewer mental mistakes. Those can be taught. His skill and talent cannot.
Don't bring that negative attitude here SIR! You will break the streak tonightBregxit said:Ag_07 said:

I apologize for his and the Astros impending loss tonight since I will be at the game. I'm like 0-8 in my last 8 regular season games.
I want to see Rickey run with bigger bases and being limited to only two pickoffs. He's the most prolific base stealer and run scorer in history (and also hit almost 300 HRs).RED AG 98 said:
Ricky Henderson had like 25 years of 70+ steals. And I think 3 over 160. Completely unfathomable in the context of today's game.
The Yankees were already scuffling before Aaron Judge got hurt, but now they're in a tailspin that's exposing the roster's flaws.

How bad is it? Free agent Madison Bumgarner's career batting line is better than what they've gotten out of their RFs (Judge has played mostly CF) https://t.co/54tKvTdxMy
Who had a better MLB career?

Good morning to everyone but San Francisco, #SFGiants fans & those still slandering @Mauriciodubon10. I have seen the light and will no longer doubt the man, the myth, the legend. Digging just a bit more, using Acuna:redline248 said:
I might have to look a little more into the impact the new rules have had on base stealing, so far. Today, there are only 8 players with double digit steals. Ronald Acuna is the leader with 13 (and caught only twice). 15 attempts in a month doesn't seem like a lot...but I don't have a good basis for comparison.
