I hate to say it but that is one very fragile large man.

I have a friend who used to work in stables in New York where thoroughbreds were kept and trained. He describes them as these big, strong, magnificent, fragile animals. That description keeps going through my mind for Yordan.

Those dark pants don't look great with the blue top. Otherwise these are pretty solid.
The Nike swoosh on the back of the pants make them look like they are on backwards.

Video of Marly Rivera dropping the C word on camera around a bunch of kids getting signatures from Judge.

Props to Judge for totally ignoring the idiots and taking care of the kids.

I enjoying bagging on Judge because he's a Yankee and we own that ass but I actually don't mind him at all.

He seems like a good genuine guy.

Wanted to give you guys a quick heads up of what the rest of the season looks like according to my season so far on OOTP24. If you guys don't know the franchise, OOTP (Out of the Park) is a great baseball simulation on steam. You control the entire astros organization, from the Astros themselves all thew way to the Dominican Summer League affiliate.

After 100 games, I'm 61-39 but only 1/2 game ahead of the Mariners in the division. The bright spots this year have been Yordan (290/373/631, 34HR 86 RBI), Tucker (297/357/566, 23 HR, 74 RBI, 18SB) and Christian Javier (11-4, 3.27 ERA, .99 WHIP 198 opponents average against). Abreu was an absolute stud in the first 70 games, with a WAR of 3.0, but broke his kneecap and is out for the rest of the season. Eric Hosmer was upset with his lack of playing time with the cubs, and since he's a left handed bat, a great defensive first baseman and a decent stick; I picked him up for $720,000. This was hugely necessary as only Hensley could play first base on the active roster, and he sucks.

Julks is playing ok (253/326/389) but needs to walk more and only has 11 HR in 316 AB. Yainier Diaz is also playing just ok (243/279/386) but is playing a helluva lot better than Maldy, who has announced he's retiring after the season. Uncle Mike is doing Uncle Mike things, with an OPS of 836 without a lot of power. Altuve is struggling a bit but has only been off the IL for 33 games, and McCormick is playing at about replacement level.

The rest of the pitching has sucked. Framber strained a hamstring and is out for a few months; McCullers is alternating between dazzling, injured, and walking in runs, Hunter Brown can't keep the ball in the strike zone, and Luis is pitching just OK. Urquidy is also a huge meh, low WHIP but gives up tons of home runs, so has a 4.7 ERA.

Abreu has been named the closer after Pressly and his 4.2 ERA blew a few saves. Montero has been lights out in the bullpen as has Seth Martinez.

it's time for Abreu to start hitting

the numbers are terrible

4 x-base hits in 104 at-bats

4 walks in 109 plate appearances

The trident on the hat is really cool.

Seems alike they would have incorporated the space needle, unless I missed it.

I believe the space needle is actually still owned by the family that originally built it, so assume it's use would have required a licensing deal

unpopular take, Craig Biggio was my favorite player growing up and is probably my favorite Astro of all time. I was just in elementary school during the peak of his career, and thought he was the best player ever.

Looking back at his stats, I am somewhat surprised that he got into the Hall of Fame. I know that the 3,000 hit threshold is generally considered "automatic acceptance" but I didn't realize his OPS+ was only 112.

He was elite in a 5 year stretch from 1994-1999; but for the last 1/3rd of his career was fairly pedestrian, but did manage to rack up an additional 1200 hits between 2000-2007

it was a combination for the Hall

the 3,000 hits and the incredible 5-year stretch

finished top 5 in MVP voting twice during that stretch

only 33 players in the history of the game have ever had 3000 hits. It's pretty simple that he's in based on that. Plus he was an all-star at catcher and 2b, 4x gold glove, 5x silver slugger, 94th all-tie career WAR and he was a good guy to the sports writers.

He is the only player in baseball history with at least 3,000 hits, 600 doubles, 400 stolen bases and 250 home runs.

in 1997 Biggio reached base an astounding 309 times

via 191 hits + 84 walks + 34 HBP

and stole 47 bases

has there been any word on Chaz? I'm legitimately concerned about the guy - dizziness is not normal unless he just flat out tied one the night before the game and was dehydrated.

Biggio is my all time favorite player. He absolutely gets overrated by Houston fans and probably underrated by everyone else. The HOF has different standards for different positions. I think he's right in line with his peers at second. He just doesn't compare to the juiced up guys dropping 40 HRs a year during his era.

It's funny because in my eyes he's a Hall of Famer because of that five year stretch.

But I think the popular opinion is that he's a Hall of Famer because of his career numbers… which like you say were really built up at the end when he was no longer elite. And at the end he was on fumes and really just hanging on to get to that number.

So you're telling me he's not a Hall of Famer unless he hangs on and has a few mediocre years at the tail end? That seems dumb.

Slashing .191/.314/.286 at SL this year. Makes perfect sense to bring him up and start him against the Phillies over Diaz.

I used to say the same thing about Chas when Siri kept playing over him. Dusty does things his own damn way. That is for sure.
