Rangers way in rear view mirror parade is June 1 I thought ? Or were you talking about the Rangers 1st place parade in late April?

7-2 in this tough stretch against Toronto, Atlanta and TB. Pitching, especially starting pitching, has been excellent.

Two greatest highlights for Rangers throughout their ENTIRE history:
1. Ryan beating up Ventura
2. Odor punching Bautista

OK yes they made a WS they lost in agonizing fashion and Nolan threw two more no-no's and hit 5,000 K's but I try to pretend like those didn't happen. I will point out that an ex-Astro stuck a dagger in their hearts in the WS.

We are appropriately focusing on the Rangers, who were the latest in dumb takes, but it can't feel that much better to be the Yankees, Phili or Seattle and see us heating up

B4 we get too high on our horse , our history wasn't that great until past 6-7 yrs . No doubt we were historically more competitive but not much to show for it.

As the Dubon train rolls on McTaggart had an interesting piece on Astro hitting streaks in his newsletter today including this nugget on Taveras' 30 gamer.

Quote:
Taveras hit .349 during his streak, which included 38 singles, five doubles, one triple, and one homer. The most amazing aspect of Taveras' streak, though, is that he had an 0-for-11 slump in the middle of it.

Wait, how's that possible?

Taveras singled in his first at-bat in an 86, 18-inning loss to the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 15, 2006, and went 0-for-8 the rest of the game (1-for-9 in the game). The next game, he was hitless in his first three at-bats before beating out a bunt single in the seventh inning to extend his hitting streak.
I love this kind of trivia.

I cannot say enough about how dominant the pitching was in 2 shutouts, with a total of 7 hits in 18 innings

Garcia gave us 6 innings
Hunter gave us 7 innings
We got single shutout innings from Neris, Maton, Montero, and we got the closing inning twice from Presley


In neither game did any Astros pitcher give up two hits in the same inning.

That's the pitching that won us the title last year and that's the pitching we all hoped we were bringing back
