Alot of things can be true at the same time.
I get why we want to give Jake an extended look. We need to figure out relatively soon if he's part of the plan or if it's time to move on. He's flashed enough potential to warrant a regular opportunity at full health.
It definitely sucks for Chas. His ALCS dingers and WS catch last year were big contributions to our run. And he's shown he's capable of being a 25 HR, .750 OPS guy at the big league level. It's almost like he's punished because "we know what we've got" with him.
But at the end of the day, Ted is the only guy whose spot in our OF is "locked-in" for multiple years. Brantley's spot is basically locked-in this year. IMO Chas isn't quite on that level. For better or worse, if we're trying to evaluate some young guys in a crowded OF, he's probably going to continue getting the short end of the stick.
