We get a lefty tomorrow so Chas should be in the lineup. Brantley probably sits. He can sub in later if they go with RHP relievers.
Isn't it a bullpen day? Would you really base your lineup on who the starter is if they'll only go a couple of innings?
It's a bullpen day until it's not. If Heaney is rolling Bochy will ride him as deep as they can. Why not get Chas 1-2 ABs vs the lefty then get Brantley at least 1 AB vs a righty (who knows after that)? The only problem with that is we didn't keep Meyers on the roster as a backup. I think thats a mistake.

Without even looking I'm gonna guess Heim has a lot better framing numbers than our catchers. That's some smooth stuff there

Not trying to be a wet blanket. Loved the win. But I felt some overmanaging going on last night from Dusty. Great move bringing in Neris in the 6th. When we went up by 5 runs in the top of the 7th, there was no reason to bring him back out with 2 more games coming in a row in a 7 game series.

When we went up by 4 runs in the top of the 8th, there was no reason to bring in Abreu. We ended up using our trio in a game that was honestly thoroughly dominated.

It all felt very Dave Roberts to me and completely unnecessary. Anyway, had to get that out.
We'll have to agree to disagree. Last night was a MUST win. There was no reason to take any chance at all letting them back in the game. Get to today 2-1 (which we did) and figure it out game to game.
I agree. Unless your up by 10 runs you use your dogs and play to win.

Urquidy has big ****ing balls. The dude doesn't back down. He knows how to pitch in big games. I'm confident if he starts Game 4.

So Urquidy is better than JP France ? Wasn't sure who Dusty would pitch, I know he used France some from the pen already. This is where not having Garcia for the playoffs hurts us. I guess Urguidy is all we really have besides maybe Brown who I think pitched some from the pen as well

The last time I was in the Dome was for a high school playoff game in 2005. There was a rat in the Astros clubhouse that I thought was a cat at first galnce.

Yet the Astros got the benefit of most calls in games 1 and 2....

Kind of like umps just miss calls and it's not 100% because of who the catcher is, like this thread wants to believe....

He earned it with his last 2 starts against Arizona and Minnesota, not to mention his previous postseason experience.

I fully expect Urquidy, France, and Brown to all get their shot if there are struggles. But if someone is doing well, Dusty will ride them.

Yes, we miss Garcia, but how about #43? He's got a pretty storied postseason past.

I will be 100% honest if we can get this to a game 6 and we are up 3-2, hell even if we're down 3-2, I am okay with Obese Framber pitching but the FIRST SIGN of trouble we pull him for France.
No matter what!

I'll cut the blue some slack on the low breaking balls and outside strike calls, but missing inside fastballs, especially as far in as he was calling, is just unacceptable. That guy doesn't belong behind the plate in a playoff game.

100% agree. Let him have it, but you see any of Framber's signs he's lost it (misplay grounder, a couple dink hits, etc.), he's gone.

I found his postgame comments interesting. He absolutely wasn't wrong that it was luck and lot of soft hits that found holes. But it shows that it's in his head and he's thinking about it when on the mound. Got to learn to let that **** go and move on.

I don't think it's about being better but acknowledging that JP hit the proverbial rookie innings ceiling and was declining towards the end of the season meanwhile Urquidy is looking to be in mid-season form due to his time off

Completely agree…if we were playing the Twins or a team devoid of a lot of hitters that can strike quickly perhaps you save your bullets but not last night. If the rangers come back and win that game it's OVER. Tonight would be a forgone conclusion because our dugout would resemble a morgue.

Back in its hey-day, you had to go through this huge security checkpoint to get onto the field or into the tunnels of the Dome. After the Oilers left down and the Astros moved to MMP, you could have walked through that checkpoint with a bazooka and they wouldn't have noticed.

a couple dink hits aren't signs of him "losing it" at all. If they are getting dink hits that tells me he has good stuff and is pitching well.

For most pitchers, I agree. But Framber tends to let those things get to him, first inning of game 2 is a perfect example. How many hard hit balls did they have in the first?

so basically you're saying if he doesn't throw no hit baseball he needs to be pulled??? He's a ground ball pitcher. People will get on base when he pitches. No need to overreact if they string a couple texas leaguers together on him.

He committed an error and had a string of texas leaguers that hurt him the other night. It happens. I agree he's a head case, but framber is always a ground ball away from getting out of an inning. He didn't get shelled, and he kept them in the game. He didn't help us, but he didn't lose that game for them team.
