Just did the math. My all-time record is 2-2, but only 1 of those games was at MMP.

Who is all going to the game tomorrow?
I'll be there. Currently sitting at .500 (5-5) so hoping to end the year strong

I was actually going for the reverse jinx but I should have known it wouldn't work. OK, Astros talk only from here on out!Bondag said:Prosperdick said:Aaaaand it's accurate.Prosperdick said:

I blame you
I wasn't implying that it was but would be nice to have another big bat in the lineup and just speculating if we thought there was a chance. My take is if Diaz is going to play let him catch as he's said he hits much better when he's playing in the field (just like Yordan).BadAggie said:
Maldy is going to start. Offensively it's up to Altuve Bregman Alvarez Tucker Abreu Brantley McCormick and Peña to get it done. I've seen plenty of games with a number of those guys doing jack, that's not on Maldy.
Respectfully the rangers are a lot hotter than those two teams and led the league in runs scored. I love the confidence just bringing up a discussion topic. Like, do we think we carry 3 catchers on the ALCS playoff roster? All I do is Nguyen said:
Last year we had Altuve be a black hole for more then half of the playoffs and we managed to sweep the Ms and Jankees. We can handle the black hole that is Maldy

Im actually fine if Maldonado starts. I dont want him to touch a bat in 2024 but for this postseason… go with what got you here.
And I'm a huge Maldy hater

The Maldy defenders are ridiculous
Sure we can win with him, but why handicap our chances
Are we trying to make it more difficult for ourselves
We all know he's playing, but there is no reason to pretend on this message board that our chances of winning are improved with him playing

Yes, Minnesota led the world in strikeouts on offense. But Correa knows what happened to the Twins' offense is what he saw happen in four previous Octobers with Houston: opponents get Maldonado-ed.
Playing the Astros with Martn Maldonado behind the plate is like walking into a fun house room of mirrors. Nothing is as it seems. Confusion reigns. Houston starter Jose Urquidy makes one start in the past 48 days and suddenly he is Mike Scott, an unhittable Astro from postseasons past. The Twins swung and missed 19 times at his pitches in Game 4, four more than Urquidy obtained in any game this year.
This kind of pitcher whispering has been going on for years. Why have the Astros won four straight postseason series? Here's a good place to start: their pitchers have won the strikeout war, 212155.
"I don't want to give credit to Maldonado, because, you know, he'll bring it up at some point when I talk to him in the offseason," Correa said, shaking his head. "But he knows what he's doing behind the plate. And he knows every hitter's weaknesses and he's going to try to exploit. He pitches against the [hitters'] expected slug.
"He does all that and we knew it and still it was hard to make the adjustments. The way he was pitching backwards ... hitters counts, he will go off-speed and then counts where you throw off-speed regularly, he'll go fastballs up. You know, they did a good job of mixing and matching. We just have got to get better, and we got to have a better plan and there's a lot of things that could have gone better for us and they didn't."

i can tell you each hitters expected slugging weakness by zone and pitch type. pay me 25% of what Maldy gets and ill memorize every hitter in baseball.
Here's the fundamental problem with that explanation. Maldy caught 85% of the games this year, which is still mind boggling for a catcher his age with a manager who LOVES to gives guys a day off. If he is Rain Man back there catching how in the F*** did we only win 90 games?BadAggie said:astros4545 said:
