That Dusty is bringing Yainer along slowly behind the plate, I can generally understand.

That Dusty seemingly refused to get Yainer's bat in the lineup elsewhere when he was clearly one of our best hitters made no sense.

The fact that he's trying to take a victory lap for it now is so damn odd.

Also, didn't Jeremy Peña play almost every game as a rookie last year (other than his IL stint)? If we should be thanking Dusty for bringing Yainer along slow, should we also be criticizing him for bringing Peña along too fast?

I know you're right the reasons were separate, but just think about the rationale … it was fine to let go of a GM after he won a title but it would be hard to encourage a manager to retire after he won a title? The double standard is understandable in context but in terms of optics, it doesn't make sense to say Dusty had to stay.

I just mean Dana deserves to have his guy if you're going to bring him in to run the franchise.

Not me! I love the nickname. It befits his arrogant, stubborn ass
I did drop "Moldy" because it's not Maldy's fault Donkey keeps trotting him out there and I truly hope he can improve with his bat because there's at least a chance for a modicum of improvement in that area.

However, at age 37, I seriously doubt we can hope for improvement in framing, passed balls, or throwing runners out. I think it is what it is as this point.

At least with hitting you can run into a hot streak. At least that's what I'm telling myself to not drive to Houston and kick Donkey in the nuts.

I hate regular season Dusty.
I like Astros playoff Dusty. I hope we get there this year.

I want to listen to Dusty talk past days of baseball and hear those stories.
I hate Dusty filling out the lineup card every night.

Make him a special advisor and keep him around if he wants to stay associated with the team.
