Is this the first Astros win in which they score 3 runs or less? Gotta be close

Why if it meant no more Maldy?

Moving capital for a catcher when we have a more than capable replacement on hand is the part that would bother me.

We have way bigger issues to spend capital on and there are ways to correct the C position that don't require a trade.

Adds a productive bat, experienced catcher with championship experience. Outside of pitching, what need does that not address?

SP and RP are much higher priorities. You can get more for free by just playing Diaz behind the plate when Yordan comes back.

And Perez will cost you $21MM/yr through 2025.

I think this is the only potential path that means no more Maldy. It gives us two plus hitting catchers and more pinch hit/DH options. He's a nice vet to pair with Yainer as he continues to develop. As already mentioned, he's well paid so the cost in prospects would be very minimal.

A really bad GM.

Diaz is alright, just needs nobody on base to hit.

Maybe if Uncle Mike was really coming back that would work.

If Urquidy is back, Javier gets a little rest, then how much are they paying for a 4th starter?

I'll take this all day. 2 weeks ago if you asked me we would be 3 back at the break I would have taken that. And that is the worst we can be. And that was before Altuve got hurt. To have a shot at 1 back is very impressive.

Also the rangers have a much harder schedule in July. I wouldn't be surprised if we are leading at the end of the month.

So why can't we roll with a 6 man rotation until at least Urquidy is back?

Framber
Javier
Brown
France
Blanco
Bielak

The key to the 6 man rotation is getting length from your starters consistently because you have one less bullpen arm. Our relievers are currently on pace for meeting last year's appearance and inning counts before the regular season is 75% over. If brown and Javier can't get it together, then it further stresses the bullpen to go with the 6 man. If they can, then it obviously has huge benefits.
We could go with 14 pitchers, but we never would. With Dubon's range and Diaz capable of catching or 1B we can survive on 12 fielders, plenty of teams have done it for years.

Diaz
Abreu
Altuve
Peña
Bregman
Alverez
Chaz
Tucker
Dubon
Julks or Meyers
Maldy
Another infielder

the Angels lose again and finish the first half at 45-46

LAAA has a rare Sunday day off tomorrow.

1-9 in their last 10 games

"If I can't start then I probably wouldn't pitch?"

Maybe something lost in translation but thats a pretty big ultimatum for a guy playing in his 2nd ASG who probably doesn't win the CYA if voting is today.

OFC I'd rather him not pitch at all…

If Dusty sends him out there to pitch in two days test, he's a bigger moron than we all thought

I think Tuesday would be a bullpen day for guys who threw yesterday. So an inning of work would be typical.

But with that said don't do it even if he is starting.

#SeaUsRise is even worse than #Ready2Reign

Serious question for marketing folks: What is the purpose of these? Is even one person out there more engaged because of a season slogan?

#ForTheH was the best one. I think they should have just kept that one. I like the ones that have to do with the city

bad loss for the M's

bases loaded in the 8th with no outs and don't score

.160 hitter homers for the game-winnner

will hit the break at .500 +/- 1

#RunAsOne for the Rockets was pretty funny, right before the team imploded.

I remember the very uninspired "Root root root" as the team was getting really bad and then mercifully we didn't have one during those terrible seasons.

I agree, I would not have thought we would be where we are at. however if we don't pick up a pitcher or 2 our bull pen will be taxed the 2nd half .. we need some guys that can get to 5 or 6 innings .. our pen has pitched more this first half than they have in the last 5-6 years the guys on tv said .. we really need to find an option or 2 if someone's out there?

Is Ugridy close to being back? He would help
