I thought he was a bit undersized when I saw he was listed at 5'10 165 but his lower body looks pretty thick in that video. Sometimes undersized guys have to overexert to get power (ie Enoli) but Santa's power looks steady and repeatable.

You may be right. He's got a ton of workout videos online. I think it's safe to say he's put on some good weight. He's moving a lot of plates.

That would be more like a 10 year deal or an 8 year extension to get to 38. I take it as a 7 total years from Browns comments.

I think I wrote here a while back that my Astros guy told me there was basically a zero chance Tucker signs an extension with us. It sucks, but it is what it is.

one thing to remember about all the extensions the Braves handed out...
it's still too early to say if all the moves were correct or successful -- have to see how the players age going forward.
the Braves won 101 games last year, but got bounced by the 87-win Phillies in the NLDS -- that was a big upset.

I recall Brown saying the Braves' pitching was worn down by the time the postseason started. The Dodgers seemed to have the same issue the year before and were also in a tight division race with San Fran.

23 days until Opening Day gets us to #23 in the jersey countdown, brought to you by everyone's main man, Uncle Mike, who has proudly donned the number since 2019 when he signed him to replace George Springer. After slumming it with the Indians from 2009-2018, Uncle Mike came to the Astros and was fantastic, hitting .309 with 17 HR, 76 RBI, and 36 doubles. In 2019 he had a near-career year, hitting .311 with 40 doubles, 22 HR< and 90 RBI, slugging .503. He hit .300 in COVID year and .311 in 2021. He got hurt and missed 100 games last year but still hit .288. He's been money in the playoffs as well, hitting .307 in three ALCS's, .327 in 13 World Series games, and basically just being that professional hitter we all know and love.
Prior to Uncle Mike, we had Chris Carter free wheeling with the number from 2013-2015, spearheading an Astro power game that was otherwise non-existent. He hit 90 home runs in 3 years with the Astros, and more impressively, struck out 545 times. He is one of only four players in MLB history to have two seasons of 200 strikeouts or more.
The longest tenured Astro to wear #23 is of course, my mom's least favorite player, Enos Cabell, who wore the MJ from 1975 to 1980. He had some really great years with the team, scoring 101 runs and stealing 42 bases in 1977, and leading the league in games played (162) and at-bats (660) in 1978, a year when he scored 92 runs, drove in 195, had 46 extra-base hits, 71 RBI, 33 steals, and hit .295. After the 1980 season, he was traded for Bob Knepper.
HE earned my mom's wrath when the Astros were down 7-5 in the bottom of the eight in Game 5 vs. the Phillies. Craig Reynolds and Terry Puhl had reached on singles with one out, and Enos stood there and took three called strikes from Tug McGraw to put a second out. The Astros managed to rally to tie the game, but when Enos came back up and made the final out in the 10th to seal the 8-7 loss, my mom decided to fully enforce a grudge that is now entering its 43rd year.

I kind of think Pena was figured it in his rookie year. He chased at an alarming rate. He adjusted by the end of the season too. I'm sure he'll get a steady diet of slider and curves away. I don't think it's going to be as effective this time around.
