To me the worst new rule is the one we just saw with Diaz getting the strike called on him and giving him a strikeout. If the pitcher has to throw within a certain time, there doesn't need to be a similar time within that to time signify that a batter must be "ready" within 8 seconds. If anything just make it where the batter must be in the box by the 8 second mark. It will be up to him whether he is "looking" or "ready to hit"

I am saying if the time reaches the 8 second mark and the batter is in the box (whether he's ready or not doesn't matter, being inside the box signifies he's ready imo) the pitcher can pitch whenever he wants . Similar to Diaz while ago. He was in the box, but wasn't deemed ready because he wasn't looking at the pitcher so the pitcher got a free strike. I dont like that. I think the batter should be afforded the chance to still swing.

Now, if the batter isn't in the box by the 8 second mark the pitcher can be given a free strike.

For me one of the beauties of baseball is the ability to turn a game on or be at a game and not be 100% locked in to the action.

You should be able to sit back and drink beer, have a conversation, and generally not feel like you've missed a lot. It should be just as much a social experience as it is a sports experience.
