Reminds me of the time I saw Lawrence Taylor and Nick Van Exel playing golf together, it was a confusing thing.Ag_07 said:

Justin Dirden has homered again, this one an opposite-field shot. He can hit.

Looking at his BR page, across 85 at-bats at SE Missouri State in 2020, he had a .900 slugging percentage and a 1.371 OPS - 14 extra-base hits in 17 games.

After a few days of the pitch clock, here are my thoughts.
- Ultimately, I think it's a good thing. The pace will be better which will make the watching experience better.
- We lose some gamesmanship with guys calling time, controlling pace, etc.
- It's going to hurt innovative teams initially. You're not going to be able to get the info in time for the shift, pitch tendencies, etc.
- Innovative teams will figure out ways to overcome it.
- I think the rule will be modified long term. Maybe it's 16 seconds, not 15. Maybe it's different for the 9th inning or postseason. I think baseball will keep it for a year and then adjust it based on feedback.
- Stolen bases will jump. It probably won't be like the 80s, but it'll go up. And this isn't solely from the clock/pick-off rules. Larger bags helps too.

It seems rushed sometimes. I've watched four games so far (2 Astros and 2 others) and I feel like more than a few pitchers and batters would have stepped out to take a breath and settle themselves. Not sure I like that part. Every batter should be able to call time once an at bat, and same with the pitcher.

I heard @LouMerloni brought this point up during the game — what are ballparks gonna do about beer sales? If you stick to cutting off beer sales in the 7th, you’re maybe an hour and a half/two hours into the game. Teams ain’t gonna like what that does to their pockets. https://t.co/Y7NlAENGjo

Tyler Glasnow, one of #Rays top starters, sustained an oblique injury during a live BP session Monday at Disney. MRI on Tuesday to determine severity, but he seems certain to miss some time. Threw about 6 pitches and walked off mound with athletic trainer.
