I think he's buds with Reggie Jackson. He was at his golf tourney a few weeks back.
Reminds me of the time I saw Lawrence Taylor and Nick Van Exel playing golf together, it was a confusing thing.

Well maybe we can agree that they should have had Smith warming up, and pulled Knepper at a minimum after the seeing-eye single by Wilson if not after the triple by Dykstra.

2:19 and the radio broadcast still sounds great. Even sped up, can't beat the chemistry of Rob and Sparky.

Are we going to nickname him Fight Club?

Looking at his BR page, across 85 at-bats at SE Missouri State in 2020, he had a .900 slugging percentage and a 1.371 OPS - 14 extra-base hits in 17 games.

First rule of Justin Dirden, we don't talk about Justin Dirden

Another stupid rule...

If a pitcher throws a warm-up pitch with less than 30 sec on the clock and the catcher throws down to 2B it's an automatic ball and first batter of the inning starts with a 1-0 count.

After a few days of the pitch clock, here are my thoughts.

  • Ultimately, I think it's a good thing. The pace will be better which will make the watching experience better.
  • We lose some gamesmanship with guys calling time, controlling pace, etc.
  • It's going to hurt innovative teams initially. You're not going to be able to get the info in time for the shift, pitch tendencies, etc.
  • Innovative teams will figure out ways to overcome it.
  • I think the rule will be modified long term. Maybe it's 16 seconds, not 15. Maybe it's different for the 9th inning or postseason. I think baseball will keep it for a year and then adjust it based on feedback.
  • Stolen bases will jump. It probably won't be like the 80s, but it'll go up. And this isn't solely from the clock/pick-off rules. Larger bags helps too.

It seems rushed sometimes. I've watched four games so far (2 Astros and 2 others) and I feel like more than a few pitchers and batters would have stepped out to take a breath and settle themselves. Not sure I like that part. Every batter should be able to call time once an at bat, and same with the pitcher.

Keep in mind this is the first time for most of these guys after doing it a certain way for years. I think they'll be able to adjust. And the batter is allowed one timeout and the pitcher can step off twice. If they step off a third time they have to get the runner. So we're good there.

Could be a pretty big blow to LA. How many times have we've seen a non contact injury = ACL tear?

What a tool bag. He completely frames the "what if" under the belief that he was in the right, and Carlos would have to have showed how genuine and apologetic he was, and how he's truly changed.

Hello?! Carlos ain't got S*T to apologize for, and if he did it wouldn't be to you.

Carlos was part of a clubhouse that put its cards transparently on the table, including some rule breaking. And nothing happened to the players …. BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T DOING ANYTHING THE OTHER TEAMS WERE NOT ALSO DOING AND THEY COUKD PROVE IT.

So that completely negates the idea that any Astro would ever need to apologize to another player. The playing field was actually level, and we beat your sorry arse.

Can we be real here, first week of spring training is not a real judge of times. Minimal visits, no pitch changes probably even less fouls balls so far. Games are usually 3 hrs last year and right now they're 2…that isn't going to happen regularly during the season

Ha! I didn't see the clip. Maybe the size of the oncoming base scared him and did it?!
