I am starting to realize that there's a lot of people who think that three and a half hour games with batters stepping out of the batters box after every pitch to adjust their batting gloves while the pitcher strolls around the mound has been the norm over baseball's history and these new rules are altering the purity of the game.BadAggie said:
Amazing how baseball had all these problems for a century and a half that MLB finally got around to correcting.
MLBPA executive director Tony Clark, during a conversation about MLB's new Economic Reform Committee, said he believes MLB's goal is to have a salary cap.

Clark: “We’re never going to agree to a cap. Let me start there. We don’t have a cap. We’re not going to agree to a cap.”
Dusty Baker said Jose Altuve, Jeremy Peña and Martin Maldonado will start tomorrow. Whitley will be on the mound.

Again, it is difficult to overstate how different Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman's situations are. Dana Brown is playing the hits and appeasing a fanbase when he says both should retire an Astro, but it is far more complicated - https://t.co/EdY4qKFrYz

As much as we rag on Chandler he's right. Breggy is going to command big years and money to stay
I don't think anyone was 100% sure about Peña .Lonestar_Ag09 said:
No offense we don't have an obvious next man up for 3B. We have 3 in the OF; Leon, Gilbert and Melton
Can also throw in Dirden and Barber
Whittaker is the only possibility I've heard about as a Bregman replacement.
Also maybe Leon is a potential Altuve replacement in a few years but I'm not sure timing will work out for that one, hopefully Jose outplays that as an option
Edit to add: the mega deal for Carlos was never going to happen. Pena has made that blatantly obvious in my opinion. The Astros saw no value in paying Correa that money when they had a replacement

Maybe the most popular at one time, but you can no longer call Nolan the greatest astro ever. He might not be top 10 at this point. But Dream for sure and Earl probably yes unless you want to go with Bruce Matthew's.

Hall of famed Warren Moon
Warren Moon is a piece of **** and was a mediocre quarterback. Fight me.
speaking of Pena...if he has a great 2023 season...Deluxe said:
If we could just get Peña into the weight room, maybe he could slide over to 3B and replace Bregman
