Would love Profar but he turned down something like a $9mm option so he must still be looking for more than that even though his market has apparently cratered.

I do think another bonafide bat on the roster could be useful, given that Brantley and Abreu will need their share of rest. He'd also help fill the offensive gap between our starters and reserves if there's an injury.
Guessing our four reserves sitting here today are Hensley, Dubon, Meyers and a catcher. Profar probably takes Hensley's spot, given their positional overlap and the fact that Hensley has options. At this point, I'd probably prefer to give those reps to Hensley to see what we've got.

I don't see Profar as a need. If he plays as he did in '20 or '22, he'd be a nice bench bat. If he plays as he did in '19 or '21 then I would roll the dice with the rookies 9 times out of 10.

I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.
Did he play SS at all for us last season? I know he played 2B a few times but didn't remember SS. Doesn't matter if he can actually play the position and did at AAA
He did in twice. Over his 4 minor league seasons he's split between 1st, 2nd, SS, & 3rd.
I heard Bregman in an interview say that he can play SS. He said he can't play at an elite level like he did at LSU or like Pena does now but he said if needed he can definitely slide over and be comfortable playing there.

At his gimpy worst he still hits as well as Dubon. Defensively (assuming he regains the ability to throw), he's near elite. He has the potential to fill the old Marisnick role.

Unfortunately I do not see anyone from the 2017 team being a lock. This does not mean they should not be at some point, but who knows how they will be looked at by the writers.Bag said:
