Ironic since Margot basically channeled Marisa's Ms. Vito in My Cousin Vinney with her Wolf of Wall Street performance.

On one hand, the influence of Bagwell and Reggie Jackson is becoming concerning. On the other hand, Jeremy is talking like this situation is about to implode when the Astros have had a top 5 front office/player dev/baseball ops for the last 6-7 years.

Nailed it. I think his evaluation of the big league club was way off. He wanted to signed 5 more guys who wouldn't even fit on the roster to sure up back ups back ups and not give any young guys a shot.

I like his rational, but when you used it to make decisions or suggestions, it seemed off.

Edit: just finished and I loved his point about the black manager and GM. Houston is like… so what. Are they good? While LA would be patting themselves on the back and it would never happen in Boston.

Yep! Other thing I noticed was him really going after the international scouting department and player development. I agree the Astros have to clean up some things and probably need to expand the front office to keep up, but those departments have been absolutely excellent.

It's also hard to evaluate the last 3 drafts with the loss of picks, but last years looks solid already. He also threw an unwarranted shot at Korey Lee. It honestly came across as sour grapes and some of the criticisms made me question whether he was just making stuff up.

I couldn't finish it. His comments about the big league club are just so terrible and inaccurate I couldn't keep going. I don't listen to a lot of sports podcasts or anything like that, so I'm sure they're all like that.

Wanting the club to hit the CBT and have no room at the trade deadline is asinine. He basically calls Crane cheap. Wanting to spend money on re-signing a Vazquez, Barnhart, Wade Miley, etc. makes absolutely no sense. Might as well not have a farm system if you make moves like that. I get Vazquez vs. Maldy and know I would go with Vazquez, but that's not how the contracts fell out. We'll also see how Maldy bounces back from his injuries. But you don't pay millions and millions for back-ups.

Who understands Blum's comments about Jeff Kent? He said "he was a jerk to us" and then "I love Jeff Kent". Which of those comments was tongue in cheek? And when he said that Kent put up the best numbers of any second baseman ever and it's not close, was he kidding about that? Or maybe he just meant in the modern era?

He was making fun of the writers who don't like Kent for being a jerk.

I would have resigned Vazquez at that price but agree otherwise. Catcher is a position of serious concern. Even if you can hold your nose for Machete's at bats and you are buying into his declining defense, at his age and mileage can you really bank on him playing 120+ games?

If I were GM for a day CV would have been my starting catcher. I just can't get on board with the love fest for machete. He's a bottom tier catcher overall at this point in his career
Im looking for Ray Finkle.... and a clean pair of shorts. Im just a very big Finkle fan. This is my Graceland, sir.

If you are looking only at his offensive stats, then yes, he is. That's not where they see his value.

What about defensive stats? They leave quite a bit to be desired too besides poptime.

I get the whole catcher debate but at some point you have to find out what you have in Korey Lee and Yainer Diaz. If one of them hits, you finally have a controllable catcher for 6+ years rather than constantly signing stop gaps.

People are down on Lee after last year,, but you really don't have to hit that well to be the starting catcher on this squad.

I'm here for it. Trial by fire. It worked for Garcia, Javier, & Urquidy.

And sometimes it takes some time and regular reps to find your groove.

Stassi was bad last year, but I would have liked to have had the combined .784 OPS he gave them in 2020-21 and I know it was a very small sample and he will come back down to earth, but Stubbs hit very well for PHI last year too.

I 100% understand the love for Machete (and Yuli!) and I have a lot of love for them too, but it doesn't mean it's the right move to let them hang on to a starting job until the wheels fall (further) off.

The Astros literally broke this man, reducing him from a plus player to a guy hanging onto being in the league by a nail.

And he's out there mumbling trash talk to himself about them
