Hopefully a Yordan type extension!

I sure hope so. Lock him down.

Are these signing values in line with what we expected?

The first 4 this morning were. Within $100k of what MLB trade rumors projected. Stanek was $500k over projection and Valdez is $600k under.

MLB trade rumors projected him at $7.4mm.

True but that's just a guess tho. Starting pitchers seems to be very under valued during arbitration years.

Projected at 3.3. Urquidy got 3.03. I'm going to guess it ends up close to 3.3-3.5.

I'd pay him triple that and think I stole money in the deal

Javier was IMHO the best pitcher on the team down the stretch and in the playoffs. I would say "give us a reasonable number and we will add 10%".

This isn't the time or arm to be quibbling over a couple of 100k.

He ate up a ton of innings last year. There is a lot of value in that.

Absolutely. Maton is very important even if he's not very good.

Wow. Was wondering if he was going to be able to prove it. Hope he's able to go after the Mets for that.

I don't know who that guys is or if it's been corroborated with anyone else, but, if it's true:

Collusion is a pretty big statement with lots of implications.

That means the Giants, Mets, and Twins would be in on it together. I don't think the Giants were planning any of this with the Mets and I cannot see why either of the Giants or Mets would be looking to help the Twins. I guess if there is a big 3 team trade at the trade deadline with those three teams, maybe collusion is more likely. That would certainly have to be proved, and I think proving it would be tough.

Carlos Correa is not worth risking any sort of looking into the anti-trust exemptions MLB enjoys, which would surely happen if it was proven. The senate already thought about looking into the anti-trust exemptions in June/July of 2022. If they did collude over Carlos Correa, it cannot be overstated how monumentally stupid that would be.

I think the more likely scenario is the Mets being underhanded, which has been the read I've gotten on the whole situation. Cohen knew he could take all the leverage away from Carlos by quickly agreeing with Carlos to whatever Carlos wanted and then using the medicals as an excuse to set the narrative that Carlos had a bum ankle. Cohen wanted Carlos on the cheap. He knew setting the narrative around long term health concerns by confirming what the Giants had already said screwed Carlos as no team would then be willing to pay for a long $300M plus deal after that.

That still proves nothing. He would still have to prove the Giants, Mets, and Twins worked together to collude against him.

Carlos could have provided another doctor or two's opinion, but if the Mets say that is the doctor they normally use and trust and therefore the opinion they will use in Carlos' case, how can Carlos go after the Mets for that? Just because two teams use the same doc for opinion doesn't prove anything at all. He needs way more than that.

There are only so many orthopedics professional athletes use. Lost of crossover between teams.

Given how good he has been the last two seasons, I would have agreed with whatever number he threw out there and then talked about an extension

Projections had him right below $6mm. That's likely number Astros were angling for a settlement at.

That doesn't exactly instill confidence that an extension will be reached if they are that far apart with debating over the MLB equivalent of chicken feed.

Most of the whispers are that Tucker wants to get paid market value. I don't think an extension is in the cards.

But arbitration agreements don't always equal extension. Astros made to a 2-year agreement with Springer and he left without a serious FA offer. Bregman was *****ing about a small raise he received before arbitration then signed an extension days later.

Yup. Tuck wants to bet on himself for the big FA contract in 3 years rather than go the Bregman route.

I definitely understand it from his perspective seeing how much money is flying around.

Sept 8-10 hosting the Mets...stick it up their asses Carlos! Who knows, the Twins could potentially knock the Mets out of playoff contention or really hurt their chances that late in the season.

enjoy the next 3 years of Tucker

and the next 2 years of Bregman

unless the Astros are going to make a significant change in their mega-contract philosophy
