the Big Red Machine was competing against another dynasty within its division. The Dodgers had an excellent run from 1974 to 1981 with all-star lineups and great pitching staffs. But only 1 of them could make the playoffs each year.

• Not great in the minors until he kind of broke out in AAA last year.
• Played very limited in the bigs and didn't do well.
• Lefty bat with a plus arm and okay speed.
• Would have had 5 HRs in MMP last year.
• Probably not making the big league roster.

He was a casualty of the injury bug TB had. They rolled a ton of guys up and down because of injury which lead them to having tons on the 40man at the end of the year

Nah. He gets basically the same 5 yr $100 mil contract that everyone else gets. He will accept it and he will like it.

He gets to compete for WS every year.

Makes you wonder if he ends up signing for close to what Crane offered him if he regrets not taking it.

He'd only need too 4/125 to top the offer. I think he'll get that no problem with or without an ankle.

I realize that things snowball, but we are really talking about an injury from the minors 8 years ago, that's never affected him, tanking his contract? 10-12 year deals are dumb in general, but it's hard for me to believe that all the teams just came to that realization in regards to a single player.
