After Yuli Gurriel reached on an error, Kyle Tucker and Jeremy Pena went back to back to make it 4-1. With one out, Martin Maldonado singled and went to third on Jose Altuve's double. Michael Brantley followed with a three-run homer that snuck over the Pesky Pole in right to make it 7-1, and Gurriel hit a two-run homer that scored Alvarez to make it 9-1. The Red Sox graciously left Eovaldi in for all of that. Because nothing builds confidence like giving up five home runs in one inning. It was Pena's first game at Fenway Park. He grew up a huge Red Sox fan in nearby Providence, Rhode Island. Tucker delivered a grand slam in the top of the fourth to cap the Astros' scoring. Tucker had 5 RBI to take the team lead with 25. Alvarez hit his 12th home run.

No proof because it's against the rules, but I'm confident the Dodgers signed Yordan with no intention of keeping him. They did it for us because we'd give them an MLB level piece to bolster their bullpen.
I also believe this to be the case. Very odd that he never actually played a game in the Dodgers system.

Day 13 since Correa "signed" with the Mets. Oh to be a fly on the wall between them and Boras right now. For once it seems like the ownership has all the power in a negotiation. They're plenty good without CC, and if another deal falls through, who's going to want to pay him market value?
I'll stick my neck out here and guess that this is more than a 9 year old ankle injury. This just feels like it's more than that. If that's what it is then CC and Boras are never going to get what they want. Not with 2 teams bailing and the very very limited number of teams who can afford that kind of money. And who need a SS/3B.

They clearly don't need him at SS and have a young 3B who while he doesn't have Correa's pedigree, was not bad either and the marginal upgrade vs cost increase is really insane. What they would be buying is playoff Carlos. And with where they are on the payroll/CBT slot is that roll of the dice really worth it? I guess if you are in NYC and win a ring you can argue it is.

I'd LOVE to beat the Dodgers, but there's a chance they don't even make it into the postseason. I've always loved the Cardinals rivalry we had when we were in the NL Central, so that would be an awesome series for me.

With the strength of the NL East and the Padres potentially passing them, I could see it. The schedule isn't as imbalanced as it has been, so intradivision play won't beat up teams as much. It's not likely they miss out, but it is possible.

They will make it but I would not be shocked to see them the 5 seed. They won't be the same juggernaut they have been. And I think the balanced schedule will mess some teams up and even things out a bit. West and East coast teams will both have more opposite coast trips than before.
I think SD will outhit them and win the West on offense.
Whoever doesn't in between the Mets and Atlanta will be the 4 seed. LA the 5.
Brewers won 86 games and missed the playoffs by 1. The Dodgers have won 92 or more every year since 2013. They're still stacked. I can't see them being anywhere close to missing the playoffs.
