Besides the length of the contract itself I think the Mets were smart. Swoop in and agree to terms so he can't negotiate with others and we'll have time to look at the medicals and back out later if we need to.
I was pretty snarky about this when the Giants backed out. I was assuming it was his previously tenderized back. That I had no sympathy for.
This is different. This I really feel bad for CC. Everyone else gets mega deals. Hell, steroid users like Tatis Jr got his. Bauer has gotten massive contracts. Yet he can't get his.

He's already gone from an Alaskan King to a California King. And he's in the process of being kicked out of that. You also have to wonder what is is dealing with on the Mrs Correa front. She just spent a year in obscurity in Minneapolis. Not just the regular season obscurity but the playoff obscurity. She can't be happy.

He could have tried last year too. When you try to squeeze every penny out of teams, it can backfire. I'm not jumping for joy, but this could serve a valuable lesson for some guys.
I can't help but wonder if this is why Carlos was adamant about inking a long term deal and opting out of MIN.

Not a Correa fan, but I think this ends up being good for him. He's always best when he's got a chip on his shoulder & something to prove. I predicted he'd go Roger Dorn as soon as he got paid. Now that he's being called brittle publicly and backed out on, I think we are about to see the best of him.
Don't know how the Astros could make it fit but Correa back for the next 3 years wouldn't be bad. Fits team culture, gives an edge. Left side of infield looks set though.
Still, the title window is next 3 seasons. Do what you can to maximize that

You agree to terms and get a due diligence period. Hence CC and Mets agree to terms. Then if things don't work out the contract doesn't get finalized.
So essentially this is like buying a house that doesn't pass inspection.

Look at the comments. Same guy was reporting he passed a physical 24hrs ago. Not sure what the truth actually is, not sure he's the best source though.
This sucks for Carlos. He's losing a lot of money.
Correa is between a rock and a hard place. Two teams bailing after a failed medical. This will cost him a ton. There really has to be more than a 2014 leg issue.
