Yeah, we tend to look at big US cities without a team, but don't sleep on :

1. Mexican cities
2. Canadian cities
3. Cities already with a team. (very low likelihood, NY and LA are generally the only two markets where that can be pulled off in other sports, .... but baseball has two in Chicago, and two right next to each other in the bay area)

3 is extremely unlikely, but worth at least mentioning.

They won 100 in spite of being managed by Buck Showalter. They have ATL and Philly to fight. Philly got better and ATL I think got worse a little. They could easily be better and have a worse record. One or two big injuries will decide it I think. And as last year proved, you do not want to play in the WC round.

Salt Lake City seems like a option. SEC country could use another team so maybe Nashville? Charlotte could also be an option too. Indianapolis could be a sneaky place to get a team too. No teams in Indiana at all.

Id put two new teams in Nashville and Salt Lake City, if non US then if go Montreal. Mexico City is a polluted trash heap no one would sign there.

Should put a team in Lousville and call them the Lousiville Sluggers.

Contracting the A's and the Marlins makes more sense then expanding.

I was told years ago he has some potentially serious issues with his back. Will be interesting to see if it's related to that or another massage.

Yep, I like the idea of Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, etc.

Would be opening up the MLB to a whole new world of possibilities if it goes well. 2 teams in each country and watch the MLB double in viewership over the coming years.

OKC is 211 miles from Arlington. About the same distance from NY to DC. 5 teams play between NY and DC.

Heck, if you're going to go really crazy on hypotheticals, I'm always trying to find a way to get relegation into more sports.

2 teams each in :
Dominican Republic
Puerto Rico
Canada (an additional two - Montreal, Vancouver?)

And then a handful of US locations like Nashville, Salt Lake City, etc.

Watch how many teams try to tank when relegation is on the table.

People in Providence are Red Sox fans....they arent going to switch just because they now have a home town team. The whole state is tiny and basically just another part of the Bosnywash megalopolis

Compare the number of folks watching those 5 teams you mentioned compared to those living in those 211 miles between DFW and OKC

Salt Lake City however is in the middle of no where with no other teams around and no direct regional affiliations. Plus that area is gorgeous. I think a team there with a stadium similar to minute maid where an entire wall of windows faces the mountains, most all of their games could be played open air but mainain a roof for early and late games.

My nephew dates the grand-daughter of the owner of the Cincinnati Reds. I've talked to him (the owner) a couple times and there was talk of the Reds moving to Nashville. The city of Nashville really wants their own identity...see Houston Oilers/Titans. With Vanderbilt being a pretty consistent baseball team. They love baseball and really want their own franchise they can call their own. The city is in full support of this.

If there is an expansion team, don't be surprised if it's there.

Scary situation for Carlos because even if he eventually signs with SF it will be WAY less and if he hits the market again he's got a big red flag on him.

I think Vegas gets Oakland.

I think there could be a team built in New Braunfels to San Marcos area as you are around 5mm people in that San Antonio and Austin region (maybe more). Already have a Canada option so I could see a Mexico option such as Mexico city. This one would make the most sense as NFL is already looking Mexico City as an expansion city and if there was a new stadium built you could have it service both sports.

With Tampa and Miami being what they are, I don't see Orlando getting approved. In my opinion, Rays get moved there before another team is added,

So in my order of who gets a team or who I think should, goes like this (not including Vegas):

2) Mexico City
3) Nashville
4) Montreal / Ottawa
5) Portland

Yep, Providence is less than an hour train from Fenway and they're die hard Red Sox and Pats fans. They aren't going to start supporting some Providence team.

The entire state of Oklahoma has like half as many people as the DFW metro area. OKC does have a successful minor league team though. Doubt it could hold an MLB team at 81 games. Basketball is right for OKC with only 41 games.

Thinking about it again, I think Charlotte could definitely handle a team if Nashville and Vegas are already taken. But I really can't find room for another team there. You'd have to start looking at Canada or Mexico. In all honesty, what should happen is the MLB should invest more in international feeder leagues in Central and South America, not more MLB teams.

San Antonio, Portland, Sacramento, Austin, Columbus are all a no. Hopefully a no to San Jose, Jacksonville, Raleigh. Memphis couldn't support a team.

I could maybe see Indianapolis, but that's already a very saturated area with a lot of die-hard fans.

If/when the MLB expands to 32, I would think they do 4 divisions of 4 teams in each league. I wouldn't mind dropping all those late night Left coast games from our schedule...

I completely agree that if another team goes into Texas it wont be in Austin or San Antonio but rahter somewhere in between to capitalize on both metros. Really too bad rangerettes already have the Texas terminology because it would work better for central Texas.

Needs to be a city that can build a stadium with a roof to avoid weather issues.
