You have to look at Pena's contract more holistically IMO because a big part of his value is that he's controllable for another five years. When taking into account his arb raises, his "current deal" is going to come in around 5/$40 million. That's obviously an insanely good contract.
Yordan is 6/$115 million. But Yordan's comps are the best of the best players in baseball, almost all of whom have $300 million+ deals. Pena might be in that echelon but might not. Early returns are great but we don't know the full extent of his potential.
If I could only have one, I'd take Yordan. It's not like you can't make a case for Pena though. Good problem to have.
