Not only do Astros have a lot of talent under control but they don't really have any bad contracts.

If he doesn't get blown away by the Astros, he should. We better put our best foot forward. Can't say I'm that confident but I'm glad we have him for three more years at least.

the National League has gone crazy.

and the bad thing for the Dodgers, Padres, Mets, and Phillies...

the NL Central will get a team in the playoffs each year without a mega-payroll.

and in the little 3-game wildcard series...all bets are off

(as we saw in the NL last year)

I started writing my top 10, and then realized I had another idea for a topic. Who are the top 5 Astros you had the most hope/excitement for when they first got on the team? Here's my top 5, largely influenced by being born in 1985:

1. Roy Oswalt
2. Yordan
3. Daryl Ward
4. Hunter Pence
5. Brad Lidge

I was in the stands for Oswalt's first start. Even in the nosebleeds it was obvious how much he controlled the mound. He's probably still my favorite Astros pitcher.

At this point I've just come to accept the fact that you're gonna disagree with whatever any one says then cherry pick some stat to make your argument.

Nimmo's career high is 17 HRs (2017), 64 RBIs (2022), 7 SBs (2022).

He may get more hits and walk at better clip than Tucker and he's a solid player but Tucker >>>>>> Nimmo. Nimmo is solid Tucker is elite.

I agree TED is better. Duh. They're different type players. Nimmo is an on base fiend. OPS+ judges offense across the board. The fact he's close to someone like TED, someone we all think highly of, means he's probably pretty dang good. He was a 5+ WAR player this year. Health is what's keeping him from getting 8/200.

Judge is a homegrown Yankee.

the 2 best NYY teams of the past 10 years were 2018 & 2019. Each won 100 games.

when other homegrown products...Glyeber, Urshela, Andjuar, and Sanchez had good years.

the Yankees have bought most of their good starters and relievers from the past decade

They can but whoever they want. The YES network and inflated ticket prices let them do that.

Owning your own entertainment network helps.

Of course the Cubs and WGN are the counter example.
