I do believe he's owed a contract offer and a shot to make the team, but I think the salary should be commensurate with a below league average OPS first baseman with waning defensive range.
If there's someone out there that wants to pay him 8 million bucks next year for his leadership and to hope he can rekindle his stroke then we should congratulate him and make a hell of a highlight video for when he comes back to play @ MMP
He's one year removed from a batting title and has a top tier glove at first base, not to mention as much post season experience as anyone in the league.
He's not a flyer. He's valuable for a lot of organizations; I wouldn't be surprised if he landed 5-7 somewhere but 8 might be too much as you suggested..
But what do I know about market value there as far as number, I guess my point is there is value there. He's worth more than a flyer.
