Take Joc off the list of potential targets.

Crap. Thought he was a great bang for the buck.
$19.65MM! I would accept that too!

Signing Judge will mean a hefty payroll jump.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

Pretty obvious that his agent dropped the Rizzo/Astros rumors to extract a little more from the Yankees.

Good reminder that most "rumors" that fly around this time of offseason are dropped by agents or teams looking for negotiating leverage. And baseball reporters are sleezy enough to just spill whatever they're told.

For all of those who may be sick of me bringing up some nerd stat. Here's some info about why I prefer it.

Quote:

Similar to OPS+, Weighted Runs Created Plus (wRC+) measures how a player's wRC compares with league average after controlling for park effects. League average for position players is 100, and every point above 100 is a percentage point above league average. For example, a 125 wRC+ means a player created 25% more runs than a league average hitter would have in the same number of plate appearances. Similarly, every point below 100 is a percentage point below league average, so a 80 wRC+ means a player created 20% fewer runs than league average.

wRC+ is park and league-adjusted, allowing one to to compare players who played in different years, parks, and leagues. Want to know how Ted Williams compares with Albert Pujols in terms of offensive abilities? This is your statistic. wRC+ is the most comprehensive rate statistic used to measure hitting performance because it takes into account the varying weights of each offensive action and then adjusts them for the park and league context in which they took place.

Yankees always made the most sense due to the OQ and the fact he liked being there, but regardless, that seems like a steal. I'd offer that same thing to Abreu.

That shouldn't be a problem for Houston, given their history with Yuli. Wonder how it shakes out.

Maybe, but as long as you're good you're good, right. Look at JV or Yuli last year.

I think Abreu is going to age very well. And here is why.

#1 - He was elite last year at 35 years young.
#2 - The hard hit and exit velo haven't declined with age.
#3 - He's reinventing himself by not striking out and drawing more walks.
#4 - He's got a ridiculous chin ponytail.
Edit: #5 - Look at his OAA. He's gotten better later in his career. He made some plays laterally that Yuli sure couldn't this year.

Updated wRC+ vs RHP. This is every hitter on Fangraphs top 50 Free Agents, plus Mark Canha since I accidentally included him earlier.

I accidentally printed this at work, but not sure what printer. Someone is going to be very confused. Haha

I say sign Brantley and Abreu and call it a day.

That lineup 1-8 is really good

This made me lol.

By process of elimination that basically leaves us with Brantley, Conforto, Abreu, Contreras, Beni, Bell, Haniger, Profar, & Mancini.

Conforto and Abreu on short-term (1-2 years) deals would be my choice.

I like it too Farmer... Conforto would be more $, but less of a liability (especially playing some OF)

That lineup gives me 2019 vibes. So long. You can stick someone like Tucker, Pena, Chas in the 6-8 hole which is just unfair.

On paper, France is a pretty "meh" prospect. He wasn't all that great in AAA last year and he's already 27, but...

They moved him from starter to bullpen where he found some success. His stuff doesn't exactly just off the screen, but he has really high spin rates on his 4 seam and cutter. I wonder if they can unlock something there and he slides right into the bullpen when there is an opening.

And he's unprotected. Julks is too. I worry we may lose them both. we have 4 open spots on the 40 man. I guess Crane plans to go ham in FA.

Crane obviously DGAF about Crane acquisitions. Hope it doesn't come back to bite us. Although the Montero deal says otherwise. *shrug*
