Yup. Guys like Abreu, Contraras, Conforto, etc are going to only require 1-3 years and 15-25 M per. We could add two and go from good to elite offense real quick.
Contreras has a QO attached so it would need to be a heck of a team friendly deal. He may be better off taking the QO and hitting free agency again next year.

I think that was fear of him coming and being a part time player and not accepting his role

it seems like a bunch of players from that championship team have gone on to steal money from their next team or next contract. The reputation gained from winning the title exceeded the actual production. Almost like a curse.

If that's what Crane thinks Click did wrong or he's holding Straw and Siri against him, well that's a bad sign. That smacks of Dusty.
Interesting to see a bit of how crane operates. On the Click side, it has to be frustrating to be told to make big moves then have one nixed at the deadline. Hard to operate with those mixed messages.
That said, click definitely screwed some things up. As GM you can explain why certain moves aren't advisable. However, it's the owner's money and you're his agent.

Basically let Crane make big free agent and contract extension decisions and you run the minors along with filling the roster. That probably happens at a lot of places but Click didn't see it because TB never had the budget to pursue any big free agents.

You have to read the article for context. Crane wanted Marte in CF. They basically had a deal and Click backed off against Crane's wishes. Click was proven right in both instances. Hendricks and Marte. Not correct on the Meyers bit… Chas is better. Click also made good moves with the bullpen and didn't cost the team a lot in terms of what we had to give up in trades.

These deals that he didn't do along with Crane handling the JV and Yordan extensions tells me he's great at operating within a small budget (what they do in TB) but when it comes to playing with the big boys he doesn't have it.

Marte worked out for year 1, but how long does he keep playing like a 20 M CFer? Age 34, 35, & 36 remain.

The longer this window remains open for the Astros, especially if they win a couple more titles, the better their 2019 Championship will look,

The marte one is dumb to me. There are so many better options
At the time in 2021, Hendricks was at the top of his game so that one makes sense
