Maybe Crane just enjoys and is driven by public/media scorn. Now that we've won and the sign stealing stuff is further behind us, he needs a refresh of material.

What did Click really do in terms of personnel?
Luhnow was the one who built the farm system and team.
I did like him bringing in Graveman in 2021, but it was a rent-a-player

It's his team and he can run it how he wants but it sure feels like he's teetering on the edge of screwing this up. It feels like he's about to be Jerry Jones.

My guess is, Crane holds on to the rest of the team to run baseball operations. Then hires someone in after the 2023 season. No long term deals are done. Only 1-2 year deals in FA with guys Crane is more familar with. Not ideal when trying to repeat.
But you know me. I am a guy who cares about the margins. Crane and his team of Dusty, Reggie Jackson, Jeff Bagwell are not who I want to make decisions about who low-key reliever we can sign and have a major impact on. They're not the ones who can evaluate internal prospects for a deadline trade. There are ton of little things that could be missed now. I like having the edge and being ahead of the curve. This aint it.
I said it was highly unlikely, what do you want from me?MAROON said:

Didn't sign correa
Locked up yordan
Brought in Vasquez and Mancini for very little, yes mancini didn't do much but the move was right
We still have hunter brown
His moves seem to be the lack of moves as of now.
I'm just making the argument for him. I don't know

Sure he is. No Click, no Pete Putila (Now Giants GM), Oz Ocampo (Marlins Assistant GM). Most of the top guys developed under Jeff left already too (Sterns, Elias, Mejdal, Taubman). Who's to say everyone else who worked under Click stays? He could vs the next GM in Det and bring his people with him.astros4545 said:Farmer1906 said:Yup.Deluxe said:Agree with the structure and that Stearns takes over the day he's available, but I don't think we'll miss a beat this year.Farmer1906 said:

Crane is not changing the make up of our player development organization after all this success
Brought back Brantly, picked up Yuli's extension, Goodrum, Dubon, Odo, Castro, all the draft picks. He's done plenty. I'd grade him a solid B.MosesHallRAB04 said:HarryRocket said:digging tunnels said:

Montero, stanek, Nerris. Without those guys the season could've turned out much differently.
This is about right. I think Click is probably good, not great. If Crane is making a move like this, he needs to have a plan. Alienating and then firing Click without something lined up is just his ego getting in the way and not a good sign.Farmer1906 said:Brought back Brantly, picked up Yuli's extension, Goodrum, Dubon, Odo, Castro, all the draft picks. I don't think it will cause conflict or destroy the team at all. It would be funny to watch the fans though.Jet Black said:
I'm not sure why anyone would want correa with the dodgers or yankees. Thinking it will cause conflict and destroy the team from within is wishful thinking imo.
I wonder if its just the opposite. He let Lunhow do that and it burned him bad so he's decided to oversee it much more closely.Ag_07 said:
I posted yesterday I don't think Crane liked having to step in anytime something big was happening (ie JV resigning, Yordan extension).
Just my gut but I think Click was used to operating on a tB budget and would get cold feet on some of these big deals and Crane would step in.
I'm guessing Crane wants someone who can do this without having to babysit.
