Dont hate it. Diaz is a stellar utility man. Seems worth it to keep him to me.

So if you keep Chas, then you need a stud 1B and a share the load Catcher who can also DH.

Or, you can go get a stud hitter at CF, leave catcher alone and get someone who can split time as 1B and DH.

You can also give rookies like Lee and Diaz more of a chance to see what you have and make a deadline acquisition if they are not working our. There is enough talent/depth on the roster to allow for that given our first 5/6 in the order.

Sign Abreu or Bell. JV, Brantley and Yuli. The rest should be focused on getting your star players on team friendly extensions wherr you can. We should have plenty of money work that out. JV is the least important component.

Unfortunately, let Brantley go. How many healthy games do we think he has left in him?

Sign JV to a short expensive deal that expires right before Pena reaches arbitration, than take the JV money and give it to Pena.

When money is relatively close... Trea Turner's top 4 options likely returning to Dodgers, Giants, Mariners or Phillies. In Philly, he reunite with Bryce Harper & creates an offensive juggernaut. Obviously he'd fit Braves / Marlins too, but don't see them spending the money.

Is anyone really going to pay Yuli? He's on the older side, coming off a recent injury, and not exactly well-loved by the rest of MLB.

I have a hard time seeing the Astros just letting him walk given they can probably swing a friendly deal (hopefully).

JV - First ballot BBHOF, #35 retired by Astros

Altuve - BBHOF (I didn't think he would get in because of "muh scandal", but I think the second ring pretty much erases that), #27 retired by Astros

Bregman - #2 retired by Astros

Gurriel - Astros HOF

Maldy - Astros HOF

LMJ - Astros HOF

Tucker - Astros HOF?

Framber, Pena, Alvarez - the sky is the limit

That's a lot of production walking and not as much coming in.

I think we need to sign Mancini (his $10mm option seems to be too good a value to let walk) Brantley, and Yuli.

Mancini to 1B, Brantley to DH/LF platoon, and Yuli to bench/platoon/DH at 1B with Mancini.

Dusty deal is my guess. Sounds like Click was only offered a 1 year deal. If that's true, Crane lowballed him to get him to leave on his own.

I bet that's for Dusty and Click extensions.

What is Crane doing? I get the feeling that Crane is afraid to ruffle feathers if he offers Click a longer deal than Dusty. These guys aren't a package deal.

If he likes Click enough to bring him back sign him to a longer deal and give him the reigns and LFG.

Dusty I get on a 1 year deal given his age but any team in the league would be chomping at the bit to give Click a long deal.

A 1 year deal for Click is a slap in the face and I wouldn't blame him for walking. Maybe underneath the table Crane has told James he'll be in 1 year deals until Dusty is gone so as to not show favoritism and when the time comes that Dusty hangs it up he'll get locked into a long term deal.

That's not what's reported.

This just says that's what they were given.
