Dusty on MLB:
Russo: Have you ever been part of a walkoff in the playoffs?
Dusty: Uh, I don't remember (haha)
Dusty: Hensley and Pena are not scared, and without fear you have action. Not worried about pressure or magintude of game. We've all played those games in our minds in the backyard.
Dusty: Kudos to the fans. No one left the park.
Dusty: Castillo will be tough, so that was a huge victory for us.
Russo: You left Verlander in a long time yesterday.
Dusty: He's my horse. He usually settles down. You can't keep someone loose all the time in the pen or wear them out before getting into the game. It's tough to know when to take out your ace, especially one that can turn it around and be unhittable in the middle innings. Those things happen. We bailed him out yesterday, he bailed us out many times before.
Russo: Layoff, and another day off.
Dusty: Having a workout today to keep timing. Took us a few innings after the long layoff. Most guys rust out before they wear out.... long story about Ron Cey and Steve Garvey...
Russo: Valdez underrated.
Dusty: Confident tomorrow, but facing a tough guy. Maldy knows how to control him and get him in sync. Valdez is a horse and come back if there's a G5. Thought we could bring him back quicker if needed over LMJ, gotta be careful with him. Plus, G3 is huge in a 5-game series and LMJ has the stuff. Hoping we don't have to worry about G5. Just planning.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.
