Bat bending what?
There was a pic of a Judge HR posted a week or 2 ago that showed his bat with a very un-natural looking bend in it after hitting the ball. People were questioning if the bat had been modified in some way. I assume that's what his post was referring to.

question is, will he put one low and in the dirt on his next to last pitch and then throw the next one in our player's ear hole on last pitch, and then laugh about it with Servais as he exits game?

Dusty on MLB:

Russo: Have you ever been part of a walkoff in the playoffs?
Dusty: Uh, I don't remember (haha)

Dusty: Hensley and Pena are not scared, and without fear you have action. Not worried about pressure or magintude of game. We've all played those games in our minds in the backyard.

Dusty: Kudos to the fans. No one left the park.

Dusty: Castillo will be tough, so that was a huge victory for us.

Russo: You left Verlander in a long time yesterday.
Dusty: He's my horse. He usually settles down. You can't keep someone loose all the time in the pen or wear them out before getting into the game. It's tough to know when to take out your ace, especially one that can turn it around and be unhittable in the middle innings. Those things happen. We bailed him out yesterday, he bailed us out many times before.

Russo: Layoff, and another day off.
Dusty: Having a workout today to keep timing. Took us a few innings after the long layoff. Most guys rust out before they wear out.... long story about Ron Cey and Steve Garvey...

Russo: Valdez underrated.
Dusty: Confident tomorrow, but facing a tough guy. Maldy knows how to control him and get him in sync. Valdez is a horse and come back if there's a G5. Thought we could bring him back quicker if needed over LMJ, gotta be careful with him. Plus, G3 is huge in a 5-game series and LMJ has the stuff. Hoping we don't have to worry about G5. Just planning.

I don't believe there was AOFA and TOFA during the regular season after wins, that probably contributes quite a bit to page count. During the playoffs in 2017 I think it started but I'm not sure.

I can see Dusty's side of the JV outing. I also like the thought of using Valdez game 2 because he's a better bounce-back on short-rest candidate for game 5. I might have even suggested that a few dozen pages back.

Interesting point Dusty made.

Going Framber in GM 2 over LMJ because it's easier to get Framber ready on short rest if needed in GM 5.

Feels like Servais is going to get desperate and do something colossally dumb (other than pitching to Yordan and pitching Robbie Ray to him) along the lines of trying to provoke a fight. Way too high expectations in Seattle this go around and now that he's going to be Monday morning QB'd all day long about how he handled the 9th he's going to snap and do something tceh tard dumb.

Excellent commentary on Servais' idiocy from Deadspin.

Don't be in such a rush to show your genius

Excerpts:

When you come at the Houston Astros, you'd best not miss.

Yes, playoff baseball is different. It has to be managed differently. Especially in a five-game series, you have to get any win you can in any way you can. You have to be a little less patient with starters, a little more patient with relievers, and pull some levers you wouldn't ever consider in June. But that doesn't mean you absolutely have to.

If manager Scott Servais really needed to find a lefty to face Yordan Alvarez, and he didn't because Alvarez has pulverized lefties this year pretty much to the same tune as righties, Matthew Boyd was out there, and this is his job.

Maybe Servais was a little spooked by Sewald's performance in the Wild Card round. But that ignores that Ray got cuffed around the ears in his one start against the Jays as well. So recency bias wouldn't account for this. Sewald had held Alvarez to one hit over seven ABs the past two years with three Ks. A soft single and one HBP does not really signal that Sewald had lost it. It was merely an excuse for Servais to MANAGE HARD while in plain sight.

It smacked of doing something for the sake of doing it. To look like you were treating a playoff game differently, to exhibit that a manager understood the urgency without understanding his own team. It was Stanley Kubrick-level "LOOK WHAT I'M DOING!!"

The Mariners' trajectory should lessen the sting of this one in time. But you never know. These chances aren't guaranteed. It was there, and their manager was in too much of a hurry to manage on TV.

The way for Servais to assert his managerial authority and genius and look like he's doing something is to make things chippy and then blame the opponents. He's done that already this season. That's gonna be his response, ratchet up 'the intensity'.

I understand if the pitcher likes him, but is there a single data point to suggest maldy should start over vasquez at all?

The one thing I had not realized about JV is that in the postseason his era for his last few starts is over 6.4. In 2018/2019 his ERA was north of 4.1. Not the best but not awful.

I bring this up simply to ask that maybe JV doesn't need to be the game 1 starter going forward? I know this season he's been absolutely lights out, but man after yesterday and the last few games in '19 and '18 it just makes me go hmmmm

We absolutely need to pull Mancini from DH in this next game. Put Hensly there, Dubon, someone until Mancini can turn back into Slamcini

I get why you say that. Im of the opinion mancini needs to be in the lineup for the games at MMP. I know he's been bad, but the short porch is so inviting for him. I could be talked out of it likely though. Just my gut.
