Oh, so you're one of those armchair managers who KNOWS that Martinez could have gone three innings without any issues.Mathguy64 said:FredMc92 said:All that did was make Maton not available today, right?Mathguy64 said:JeffBagwell said:Mathguy64 said:
I'm going to keep saying this all day.
Dusty you ****ing idiot.
True but the schedule coming out of the break is the root cause
No. That idiots decision to not give Martinez a second inning last night is the only reason for this mess.
Am I forgetting any other consequences?
It cost him Maton, Stanek and Neris.
JV went 7 and he wasn't needed.Mathguy64 said:
Dumbass Dusty specifically said ij his after game presser that he'll didn't use Martinez for a second inning last night because he needed him available today.
Dusty? Yo Dusty. Earth to Dusty. You there?
Astros manager Dusty Baker said Verlander hitting 99 repeatedly in the 7th inning reminded him of Tom Seaver. pic.twitter.com/Agu1sMdYPr

Had lots of high fives and fists bumps, a lady told me I should be in the dictionary next to the word aneurysm, I had a dude tell me I’m the most passionate Mariners fan he’s seen in years. The game is better at @TMobilePark when people are passionate! Which was my point.

“I feel like I haven’t been able to let it go like that in a long time,” Verlander said after topping 99 mph four times in an overpowering 7th inning. pic.twitter.com/gleDbpjqp2

Is that really so hard to understand?

The guy that tweeted that was saying that the mariners' stadium staff wasn't used to handling a full house and rowdy fans
Dusty Baker said Jakes Meyers is OK after being hit on the left elbow and will be out of the lineup tomorrow, which was going to happen anyway. His left arm is his throwing arm.

They went on a 14-0 run and gained what? 3 games? And they lost the ground they had gained in 3 days.

And how many times has Martinez gone 2+ innings in a meaningful game? I like Seth and he's been great in just about all of the games he's pitched in, but to just say "he goes out a second ( any maybe third? ) inning and everything is perfect" is ridiculous, It's a fantasy, Maybe he only gets one out in the eighth as well and the exact same situation occurs. You really have no idea.Mathguy64 said:FredMc92 said:JV went 7 and he wasn't needed.Mathguy64 said:

Martinez routinely goes more than 1 IP. Multiple times he's gone more than 2. He threw an easy 12 pitches in the 7th last night in a 5-1 game. Taking the 8th was a No brainer. Instead Dusty wiped out Maton, Stanek and Neris making them 100% unavailable. And it forced him to use Parker Mushinski in a 3-1 game in the 8th. Yes Parker got out of it on 4 pitches. But that doesn't excuse the dumbass move last night.
To top it off when he was asked about it last night he trotted out that lame excuse that he was saving Martinez for today. And where was he? Not pitching in favor of Parker.
He got away with it. That didn't make it right.

Fulfilled...that's the last adjective I would use to describe that dork.gougler08 said:EastCoastAgNc said:Had lots of high fives and fists bumps, a lady told me I should be in the dictionary next to the word aneurysm, I had a dude tell me I’m the most passionate Mariners fan he’s seen in years. 100% right.
And the starter is not always going to go 7, and the worst pitcher in the bullpen is not always going to have a four pitch inning. Matter of fact, typically neither of those is going to be the case.
I think you can enjoy another great JV performance and enjoy this great season so far and the golden era we are in while still acknowledging that Dusty sucks and his mismanagement of the bullpen is going to cost us.
Imagine being the poster(s) on here before the All Star break that were talking about the Mariners closing to within 5 of the Astros. They seem to be very quiet at the moment.FrioAg 00 said:
Lol, imagine being Seattle 3 days ago.
14 game winning streak, and visions of the Yankees taking 2 in the double header and then sweeping us at home. In their mind they were knocking on the door to cutting our lead to a super manageable number by tomorrow.
Whoops. And you still have to face Framber tomorrow.
