I think this is pretty close but I think you'll see Tucker at DH and the young guns only outfield

Probably right. He or Meyers will have to play in the field

And watch this group put up a baker's dozen.

(I mean, it could happen)

at the moment the Astros home vs. road disparity is back to 10

39 home games vs. 49 road games

the Mariners win their 11th game-in-a-row tonight.

putting a lot of pressure on the AL East wildcard teams

Seattle has 29 games vs. the A's, Angels, and Rangers in the second half.

and the M's are already finished with the Red Sox, Rays, and Blue Jays.

they will have a good shot at breaking the 20-year playoff drought

And meanwhile the 2 best players in baseball will yet again not be in the playoffs

Before the game, they said odo has flown home early to start tomorrow. Now it's urquidy. Berkshire was gonna start Saturday. Now it's TBA. Very inconsistent. Either dusty is senile and was talking out his ass or they are masking things up as they go along

honestly...Odo is one of the guys I would be lining up to pitch in the Thursday doubleheader

and once again what a scheduling advantage for the Mariners.

they will have their 1-2-3 ready to go for the 'stros right after the break

Mariners always catching the breaks these last couple of decades it seems.

Want to see what proper bullpen management looks like vs not?

NYY has the #2 bullpen ERA - 2.95

HOU has the #1 bullpen ERA - 2.65

Look how the innings are broken up.

NYY
1. Holmes - 40.1 IP (593 pitches)
2. King - 48.1 IP (728 pitches)
3. Peralta - 33.2 IP (503 pitches)
4. Chapman - 18.0 IP (349 pitches) - spent time on IL

HOU
1. Pressly - 27.0 IP (376 pitches) - spent time on IL
2. Montero - 35.1 IP (572 pitches)
3. Neris - 37.0 IP (574 pitches)
4. Stanek - 30.0 IP (475 pitches)

I am sure Holmes and King will be feeling great come October. Chapman looks to be having a down year. He's given up an ER in 7 of his last 10 appearances.

I think they are just playing the odds that Urquidy will have a longer outing than Odo. The pen has logged a lot of pitches the last two days.

I'd be ok not giving the Yankees another look at JV and Framber.

We need to at least split the double header so we have the series win. That gives us the leg up in a tie breaker scenario for home field advantage

I guess. We will see how those Yankees look in the playoffs after racking up 90 innings each.

Hey. Pitching coach. Let me give you a hint.

DON'T THROW A PITCH ON THE OUTDIDE CORNER TO A LH BATTER WHEN YOU'VE GOT THE SHIFT ON.
I was going through the thread this morning to see what I missed during the game and I've seen this statement multiple times from other folks, so this is not necessarily directed at this poster...

This pitching strategy is done intentionally. The thought process is that if you have a batter who is HEAVILY going to pull whatever pitch they get thrown to them if you throw on the outside corner this is the pitch most likely to get missed or very weakly rolled over on and grounded out. You don't want to pitch inside on a pull hitter and play into their strength

While personally I agree that batters should recognize that and work to take that pitch the other way like a well rounded hitter, most do not.

Also if you notice most all of these hits are usually very weak off the end of the bat dink type hits which is exactly what the pitching theory is designed for it just means the batter was probably so off that he couldn't get around on it and squibbed it to the left side.

It's a joke. To finish out the season starting September 15th, the Mariners have the following

Angels - 4
A's - 3
Royals - 3
Rangers - 3
A's - 3
Tigers - 4

It's easier playing cellar dwellers 20 games back in September after call ups

I would be all for this as long as it was super cheap. You're buying low and trusting your coaches to fix someone with a somewhat high ceiling. He's about a year removed from a .869 OPS (what he hit as a Ranger in '21).

He would platoon and only face righties. Put him in LF until Brantley gets back. Split time with Yuli at first. Be a weapon as a PH.

No, I don't care that he bats sub .200. He can draw walks and crank homers.

Actually, they do not. MLB schedules are not balanced.

ADDED:

Astros play 39 home division games
Seattle plays 37 home division games

Astros play 7 games vs NYY, Balt, Cle, ChiSox, Det, and KC
Seattle plays 7 games vs TB, Tor, Bos, Minn, Cle, and Det

Astros play 4 games vs NYM and Ari
Seattle plays 4 games vs Wash and SD

Astros play 3 home games vs Philly and Miami and 3 road games vs Atl and Wash
Seattle plays 3 home games vs Atl and Philly and 3 road games vs NYM and Miami
