No, I don't care that he bats sub .200. He can draw walks and crank homers.
Does he though?
He only has 10 HRs and 21 RBIs and Yankee Stadium is shorter than MMP.
One of the last people I'd wanna see come into the box as a PH in an important spot is Joey Gallo.
Hard pass
And I'm sure you'll respond with some advanced expected stats about how good he is.
Moot point because the Yankees would never trade us someone that might help us...and trust me I get as annoyed as anyone at the expected stats and the long-winded lectures on why someone that sucks is really good, but I'm with Farmer on this one.
Would not want him up with 1 out and a man on 3rd, but he's still a GG-caliber OF, still hits RHP well and can still hit when not in NYC. When he's at his best he draws enough walks to get on base as much as the next guy and of course he mashes dingers.
He has put up most of his gawdy stats in low-pressure situations and he hits terrible in MMP, but I'd certainly rather see him in the lineup than:
- Siri (ever)
- Dubon in the OF (ever)
- Chas (vs RHP)
- I'd even put him in over Yuli vs. RHP if he can still play 1b.
Again, Yankees aren't letting him come here, but hell yes I'd trade Siri for him.
