Lee isn't on the 40 man roster, so they need to clear a spot there.

I'm not sold on Meyers being the CF of the future. I think he is more of a stop gap or 4th OF, just buying the Astros time until Leon is ready.

Leon, imo, is the CF of the future. I think they plan to do the same thing they did with Yuli. Remember the AJ Reed experiment? Unless Meyers blows them away, that position is Leon's by 2024.

Agree but you make your own point of why you don't waste prospects on any stud CF when you have a serviceable CF and your one for the future.

Same with trading away young stud Pitchers.

Urquidy is the only young arm on the block in my opinion. He's a little further towards FA and he's not an ace just a 3-4 type guy

I didn't suggest trading away anyone. I just think the current crop of CFs are not long term solutions.

I'm very ready to see what he's got. Hopefully he can keep that backup spot on the roster and learn from Maldy for a bit. Allow us to ship Castro with gratitude for the Mets game

I bet Pedro starts in cf next year and Kory splits time w/Maldy.

Siri is the one to trade because there are a lot of GM idiots out there who see his speed and his raw ability and are convinced they'll be the ones to turn him into the next 40/40 guy. Chas isn't that great, but he's not nearly as erratic as Siri. They both strike out a lot, but I feel like Chas would be a better guy at the plate when you need to move a runner or work a count.

They don't need to add Brown to the 40 man roster until December.

What has LMJ done to come back and be inserted as the #2?

Right now there's no question in my mind that JV is our #1 and Framber is #2. LMJ should insert behind Framber but one could even argue Javier is ahead of him.

To think Lance is just come back like old Lance and be able to both take on a workload and perform at a high level is wishful thinking.

Honestly I would put him the pen and begin his transformation to an elite BP arm. Doubt that happens but that's how would handle him.
I tend to agree with this assessment. As much as I want LMJ to come back and be THE guy, he has to prove it first, and we may not even need him to the way the starters are performing currently. I would LOVE a scenario where the starters continue this performance through the end of the season, and we have LMJ as that lethal 2-3 inning relief guy out of the pen. Then re-assess going into next season with him joining the starting rotation.

Of course, all of this is subject to Click's plan for mid-season acquisitions/dealings if he decides to trade one of our extra arms
Lance hasn't even proven he can be a starting pitcher for a full season. Let him prove that first before you start anointing him as the Ace.

I think it's probably smartest to ramp him up to where he can go 4+ IP in relief during the postseason.

Well, technically all he did start a full season last year. He just didn't make it through the postseason.

But I think Siri has more value as a late defensive replacement or pinch runner in a playoff game.

Chas does nothing for me at all.

As long as we're talking just being a sub, replacement, 4/5th OFer on a playoff roster then give me Siri.

Bet he tweaked it when he uncharacteristically had to turn left at first base instead of right.

I'm appreciative of Castro and respect his professionalism over the years but now is the ideal time to go on a bow out and call it a career.

Come on out and announce that the knees just can't take it anymore and he's calling it quits.

Hell just move him to the 60 day IL and he can hang around in the dugout and help Lee.

I've heard that story before and it never gets old!

I had the wonderful luck to work at Rice in their SID office for my first job out of A&M, which happened to be the Berkman went nuclear on NCAA pitching, hitting .431 with 41 HR, 134 RBI, 109 runs scored, and a 1.032 SLG average. Mind you, that's 41 home runs in 63 games.

Lance would come into our office once in a while to do literally nothing but hang out and talk about baseball, because me and the other 2 assistants were all between 22-27 years old and talked about it all day long.

That was a job full of insane stories in a little less than one calendar year, including meeting Rick Majerus, Jerry Tarkanian, watching Fresno State shave points in men's basketball right in front of our eyes, and having our 18-year-old intern date Matt Maloney of the Rockets for a while, and watching Ken Hatfield eviscerate Rice's former SID for challenging him on how the cover of the damn media guide should look.

Castro would be great in the postgame show next to Eschenfelder.

Keep him on the team for the rest of the year (leave him on the IL) as an unofficial "catching coach", I'm sure he can help korey grow into the role
