I'm not sold on Meyers being the CF of the future. I think he is more of a stop gap or 4th OF, just buying the Astros time until Leon is ready.
Leon, imo, is the CF of the future. I think they plan to do the same thing they did with Yuli. Remember the AJ Reed experiment? Unless Meyers blows them away, that position is Leon's by 2024.
Agree but you make your own point of why you don't waste prospects on any stud CF when you have a serviceable CF and your one for the future.
Same with trading away young stud Pitchers.
Urquidy is the only young arm on the block in my opinion. He's a little further towards FA and he's not an ace just a 3-4 type guy

Is slashing the correct term for that?

Lance hasn't even proven he can be a starting pitcher for a full season. Let him prove that first before you start anointing him as the Ace.CFTXAG10 said:I tend to agree with this assessment. As much as I want LMJ to come back and be THE guy, he has to prove it first, and we may not even need him to the way the starters are performing currently. I would LOVE a scenario where the starters continue this performance through the end of the season, and we have LMJ as that lethal 2-3 inning relief guy out of the pen. Then re-assess going into next season with him joining the starting rotation.Ag_07 said:
What has LMJ done to come back and be inserted as the #2?
Right now there's no question in my mind that JV is our #1 and Framber is #2. LMJ should insert behind Framber but one could even argue Javier is ahead of him.
To think Lance is just come back like old Lance and be able to both take on a workload and perform at a high level is wishful thinking.
Honestly I would put him the pen and begin his transformation to an elite BP arm. Doubt that happens but that's how would handle him.
Of course, all of this is subject to Click's plan for mid-season acquisitions/dealings if he decides to trade one of our extra arms

I think it's probably smartest to ramp him up to where he can go 4+ IP in relief during the postseason.

There's the 40 man move
In his last 13 games, Lee has a hit in 11, is hitting .320 with three doubles, a triple, two home runs and 14 RBI. He has 10 homers on the season, which are tied for fifth-most of all Triple-A catchers. His 21 RBI in June were tied for 6th-most in the PCL, per the Space Cowboys.

I'm appreciative of Castro and respect his professionalism over the years but now is the ideal time to go on a bow out and call it a career.
Come on out and announce that the knees just can't take it anymore and he's calling it quits.
Hell just move him to the 60 day IL and he can hang around in the dugout and help Lee.

Castro would be great in the postgame show next to Eschenfelder.
