Consider it to be way better than the alternative, a tie. Given that it's an exhibition, extra innings are not realistic as they are not going to throw more pitchers out there that they didn't plan to get any work that day. Take it for what it isjkag89 said:
Again I'm sorry to be such a kill joy but IMO it is simply stupid to determine the "winner" of a baseball game based upon who wins a glorified batting practice.

What's the consensus of this group - are we going to make a move for an upgrade at 1B? Or a big bat for the OF?
The chatter all seems inconsistent and scattered, so I'm guessing no real smoke to anything.
Just curious if others thought we were making any big moves
Only makes sense if Brantley is not coming back. Plus the risk of having the play at TOR is real.Bonnettecj1 said:

I just want to get better. if that means bullpen depth and a platoon / bench bat fine. But ideally, we add a big bopper that can play 1st/OF/DH and a med/high leverage left-handed bullpen arm.FrioAg 00 said:

Tony Clark said pitch clock, bigger bases, and shifts are “the focal point” of negotiations with the new competition committee — suggests they are in the 45-day discussion period that follows any new rule proposal raised before that committee, so potentially movement there soon.

MLBPA chief Tony Clark: "Having the draft during the All-Star Game presents some challenges ... It's great to have it as a part of a marquee event, but the timing is extremely challenging for all involved."

And we have all determined that you are wrong, and we stick by it.jkag89 said:
In my very first post on the subject I stated I'd rather see a tie than this silliness to determine a "winner" and stick by it.

I am expecting us to sign a guy or two that is not considered a big splash. Many of us b**** about it, and then they turn out to be pretty damn good fits.
The robo umpires won't come to #MLB earlier than 2024.

I accept the fact I'm a killjoy on this but stand by that my opinion is 100% correct.Lonestar_Ag09 said:And we have all determined that you are wrong, and we stick by it.jkag89 said:

When MLB realizes the Astros' window is still wide ass open in 2024, I'm sure that will get pushed back to 2025-26
I figured it out. Brantley isn't actually hurt. We're working with him at 1B so he can platoon with Yuli after we acquire Soto.Farmer1906 said:Only makes sense if Brantley is not coming back. Plus the risk of having the play at TOR is real.Bonnettecj1 said:

I ****ing hate that guy. Single A players were making like $6k a year and weren't even provided housing except by generosity of host families. When COVID hit they tried to make them pay for their own room. They raised their pay finally but it's still like $500 a week during the season. Just ridiculous.EastCoastAgNc said:Rob Manfred: “I kind of reject the premise of the question, that minor league players are not paid a living wage"
