Didn't Nolan have a crazy 250 pitch game or something stupid?
235 in a game in 1974.

He pitched 13 innings, struck out 19, walked 10, and got the no-decision because the Angels sucked just as much ass then as they do now.

Luis Tiant pitched the whole game for the Red Sox, 14-1/3 innings and took the loss.

Game time: 4 hours, 2 minutes. These days, that game would have taken 9 hours.

Diaz is literally guessing on every single pitch. And if it's not a fastball, he isn't hitting it.

I looked it up too. He threw 6 scoreless against the Yankees his next start. On 3 days rest

the Astros' last 2 losses...have featured Dubon taking 0-fers in the top part of the order.

would recommend not doing that again. thanks,

He'll bat cleanup as soon as Bregman takes an off day and we'll all just be forced to deal with it.

Not going to hate on JJ there.

Really ugly sequence on defense cost the Astros this game, but hard to fault Valdez. Once again the starting pitching did its job. Keep doing that and this team will be one of the last to play in '22.

Yeah, I'd love to see the statistical justification for batting Dubon at the top of the order. It's just a back-breaking arrangement when you're already hampering yourself with scheduling days off for guys in their mid-20s with injuries elsewhere a week away from the ASB.

That's as ugly a loss as this team has had all season.

They play 162 games

Can't win them all

I get you can't win them all, I just don't like it when we step on our own dix. The A's didn't even care if they won, it just fell in their laps.

Great loss today. That's how you lose a game. Framber got pinched. We didn't have to use any bullpen. Got Peña another day of rest. Still had a chance at the end. Couldn't be more proud of this team.

We got Dustied and jinxed...we can overcome one of them, but not both. From now on people, stop talking about how easy the A's and other crap teams are to beat.

And yet the 2013 Astros that lost over 100 games like these A's will still won over 50.

It happens. No sense making too much of it. Go get them tomorrow.

Yanks blow a 2 run lead in the tenth, lose 6-5 to the Sox. No ground lost there!

In 2013 we beat the WS champion Red Sox at least once. I was at a game where we shut them out. It happens.

If I'm reading history correctly, the Astros are 13 games under .500 as a franchise. Of the 12 teams above them in historical winning percentage. the "youngest" are the Yankees (formed in 1903). The Astros are the most successful recent expansion team in MLB, with the Angels and Blue Jays not far behind.

In terms of winning percentage... hard to compete in total wins against teams formed in the 1800's... the Astros can climb the success ladder in the coming years. The Reds are 190 wins above .500, the Tigers 180 wins and the Pirates 60 wins. If the window stays open a few more years, the Astros could soon be a top 10 winning percentage franchise in baseball history. Pretty cool.

I seem to recall that the franchise almost reached .500 during the 2004-2005-2006 seasons, but then fell back considerably once the rebuild started
