We're winning this series. Only thing the postponement means is we have to wait one more day to celebrate. Let's get a big win tonight.

Some of us need to get the **** over the rain out.

It's RAIN.

For MLB and Fox, the only thing worse than a rainout is starting the game at 8 EST, then having it get stopped in the third inning because it starts pouring, and then it's 11:30 when you finally start back up and your TV rating goes to **** because the game ends at 1:30 a.m..

Or it keeps raining and raining and you have to halt the game in the 5th inning and start it up it tomorrow and make up half a game at 2 p.m. where nobody can come to the game, and then risk Game 3 going extra innings and trying to start Game 4 two hours after Game 3 ends, except now you don't have **** for pitching on either side and it turns into a 13-9 garbage game that isn't indicative of either team's ability.

Is Rob Manfred conspiring with the National Weather Service to screw over the Astros? Rob Manfred LOVES when the Astros are good because people watch the games because they want to see us GET BEAT. Just like the Cowboys in the Super Bowl. You either love the 10,000-pound gorilla or you want to watch them get their asses beat.

If you're so convinced that 24 hours of extra rest on some guy's arm makes the 87-75 Phillies so much better than the 106-56 Astros, why the hell did we even play the regular season?
Not sure who's still complaining about the decision to postpone last night's game.

but I'm guessing our reps advocated to omit the travel day
no travel day also would put astros in a bind for game 7. who starts?
Kinda beside the point in my view. It's not about who starts game 7. It's about who eats innings for the entirety of games 3-7 and which staff is more likely to be wearing down by the end of the series. To me, that would have been big advantage Astros.

We would have options for a game 7. They don't. Their pitching would be so royally ****ed, the Rangers could win game 7.

i think the management looks at it holistically. the rain delay isn't nearly as great for phillies as media and some are making it out to be. sure, it helps, but astros still have decided advantage.

Does the postponement favor the Phillies? Yes.
Do the Astros still have the advantage over the entire series? Yes.

Let's move on and focus on winning today

Agree that management looks at it holistically. That's what they're paid do do.

More games in a row --> more advantage to team with pitching depth. As the team with lesser pitching depth, Philly is no doubt relieved to keep their off day between games 5 and 6.

And like Farmer pointed out, our options for game 7 would have been just fine relative to theirs.

All people are focused on is the impact the extra delay has on pitching, but it could also cool bats down.

And honestly the hot bats are all Phili has in their advantage.

Eating me some Texas Cheesesteak for lunch today (because Phillie Cheesesteaks suck in comparison). This strategy worked a treat when I had NY strip the last two times we faced the damned Yankees.

I brought this up yesterday as well as something I'd consider if we were up 3-1 just to get JV two more rest days. But now that his start is bumped a day anyway I'd go ahead and go with JV.

5 full days off has mostly been his schedule lately. I think the only time since the All Star Break that he only had four days between starts was the game against Baltimore where he only threw three innings.

People keep bringing this up, but he doesn't know how he'll really feel until he does it. I don't think it's an insane thought that he wakes up that next morning and feels like his job is done.

It's like in coaching searches when a coach's alma mater comes up and people say he's happy at his current job so why would they take it. You never really know until it happens.

Some pages back, someone mentioned buying tickets online at or just after first pitch for WS games last year, and was able to get a good deal. I'm wondering if anyone here tried this, or knows someone who tried this for Game 1 or 2 this year, and how successful or not they were. My wife and I are gonna be in College Station Saturday for the Florida game, and we are thinking about driving to Houston after the football game and giving this a shot. Any feedback and/or tips are appreciated.

Saying this before he has a WS ring on his finger. Speculating that would change things.

I live right down the street from MMP so I was keeping an eye on Game 1 ticket prices around first pitch trying to find a deal. The get in the door tickets didn't really come down much at all and there weren't very many left in the hour before the game. That combination had me pass on Game 1.

I mean, the rainout didn't help the Phillies as much as we all are afraid of. The ultimate result is that Game 4 looks better to them (although Javier is more like a number 2 than a number 4) and Game 5 looks much worse.

Game 3 -
Phillies - Suarez
Astros - McCullers

Game 4 -
Phillies - Nola
Astros - Javier

Game 5 -
Phillies - Thor / Bullpen Day
Astros - Verlander

- off day -

Game 6 -
Phillies - Wheeler
Astros - Framber

Game 7 -
Phillies - Suarez / pen
Astros - McCullers / Javier

Really have to keep an eye on tickets throughout the day to know. If a lot are available, prices will drop. Not a lot were available for game 1 so they held their value pretty decently. But you could have got a good deal for game 1 if you were keeping an eye out. For example, you could get section 111, row 10 for $620+taxes and fees on StubHub around 2 pm, those were like 1500+. Someone on Facebook marketplace was selling 3 in section 132 row 2 for $500 each about 10 minutes before game time.

I was tied up when game 2 started so wasn't watching the market.

I think if Dusty wants to come back, Crane is going to give it to him. From what I have read there isn't a conflict between those two. Espada is a key piece. I think the best case is we give Dusty 1 last swan song/farewell tour, and ink Espada into a deal where he takes over. Put it in writing so if Crane or Dusty changes his mind then a big buyout is there for Espada.

Who the hell knows what is going on on the GM side. I think Click has done plenty to earn a new deal. I think he'd be a highly sought-after guy the second he's a free agent. If not, at least there are some interesting names mentioned. I like the Stearns less than the Sig though.

I think the Phillies' bats are cooled down by our pitching.

Altuve was starting to get in a rhythm. Let's hope the delay doesn't cool him down.
