Not sure who's still complaining about the decision to postpone last night's game. The Porkchop Express said:
Some of us need to get the **** over the rain out.
It's RAIN.
For MLB and Fox, the only thing worse than a rainout is starting the game at 8 EST, then having it get stopped in the third inning because it starts pouring, and then it's 11:30 when you finally start back up and your TV rating goes to **** because the game ends at 1:30 a.m..
Or it keeps raining and raining and you have to halt the game in the 5th inning and start it up it tomorrow and make up half a game at 2 p.m. where nobody can come to the game, and then risk Game 3 going extra innings and trying to start Game 4 two hours after Game 3 ends, except now you don't have **** for pitching on either side and it turns into a 13-9 garbage game that isn't indicative of either team's ability.
Is Rob Manfred conspiring with the National Weather Service to screw over the Astros? Rob Manfred LOVES when the Astros are good because people watch the games because they want to see us GET BEAT. Just like the Cowboys in the Super Bowl. You either love the 10,000-pound gorilla or you want to watch them get their asses beat.
If you're so convinced that 24 hours of extra rest on some guy's arm makes the 87-75 Phillies so much better than the 106-56 Astros, why the hell did we even play the regular season?
Deluxe said:Kinda beside the point in my view. It's not about who starts game 7. It's about who eats innings for the entirety of games 3-7 and which staff is more likely to be wearing down by the end of the series. To me, that would have been big advantage Astros.BMX Bandit said:no travel day also would put astros in a bind for game 7. who starts?Quote:
but I'm guessing our reps advocated to omit the travel day
Agree that management looks at it holistically. That's what they're paid do do.BMX Bandit said:
i think the management looks at it holistically. the rain delay isn't nearly as great for phillies as media and some are making it out to be.
as for Jose Altuve… his list of accomplishments for a salmon swimming upstream is pretty damn impressive…. https://t.co/6jyHP4rh7p

The news that Pedro Grifol will be the new White Sox manager closes the managerial carousel for Astros bench coach Joe Espada. Espada, as written here earlier this month, is not under contract with the Astros next season - https://t.co/ZTJfJRUNiT

Dusty has already stated he wants to come back.
I live right down the street from MMP so I was keeping an eye on Game 1 ticket prices around first pitch trying to find a deal. The get in the door tickets didn't really come down much at all and there weren't very many left in the hour before the game. That combination had me pass on Game 1.bek.90 said:
Some pages back, someone mentioned buying tickets online at or just after first pitch for WS games last year, and was able to get a good deal. I'm wondering if anyone here tried this, or knows someone who tried this for Game 1 or 2 this year, and how successful or not they were. My wife and I are gonna be in College Station Saturday for the Florida game, and we are thinking about driving to Houston after the football game and giving this a shot. Any feedback and/or tips are appreciated.

I think the Phillies' bats are cooled down by our pitching.FrioAg 00 said:
All people are focused on is the impact the extra delay has on pitching, but it could also cool bats down.
And honestly the hot bats are all Phili has in their advantage.
5 years ago today, the Astros won their first World Series Championship 🏆
