I just cannot wrap my head on going from a batting champion to falling off this hard in one season.
I would still bring him back on an absolute minimum of minimum deals with a team option for year 2... Just to see if this year was an anomaly. Worst case is he is a veteran bat off the bench and you also sign another 1B as insurance.

Yeah I think that's the right move if he will go for it. You absolutely cannot count on him being your starting first baseman without bringing in a very solid guy fighting him for the spot.

I was just being stupid. I couldn't think of anyone else that had ever played for the Diamondbacks that previously played for us.

Now that I'm looking at the roster they had a lot of former Astros on that championship team. Gonzalez, Finley, Schilling, big unit, Russ Springer… greg Swindell!!!

if you look at the timeline, it's pretty obvious that Finley's old buddy Ken Caminiti introduced him to the juice in San Diego… Then Finley and Gonzalez both go to Arizona and are reunited there…Then all of a sudden Gonzales has 57 home runs.

Don't tell me Biggio and Bagwell saw all of that happen and just kept on drinking their MetRX shakes.
