any word on a salary floor? Its god awful watching the orioles and pirates play.
i don't think it'll happen, owners proposed it, but only if lux tax threshhold is lowered. also remember players saying they didn't want it either, as they believed it would lead to owners pushing for a hard salary cap
If a floor ever is imposed, I think the smart owners would start locking up all their potential young talent long-term. That way you can hit the # imposed by the league while securing your best young guys long term and continuing to tank.

anyone want to shed light on the bonus pool? basically saying each team has a separate pool of money to pay young players?

It seems like MLB is sticking to something similar to what was already there and making a few concessions or changes. The players are asking for radical changes. Am I following this correctly?

Something should make an info graphic of the top 5-10 subjects. Show the players, owners, & what it was on the previous CBA.

That's what I'm getting

But isn't that typical with the first steps of a negotiation?

One side makes some over the top demands and the other makes some BS concessions.

that's what I'm thinking from the players' perspective.

what happened to the universal DH?

or the shortened path to free agency...or the raising of the luxury tax threshold...or the creation of a minimum team payroll / salary floor...

where's Marvin Miller when you need him?

Lean twitchy and quick Bregman is best. Bulked up Randy Arozarenalike Bregman is not best.

Did anyone see in the comment section of the Astros Facebook post about the Skeeters name change a guy mentioned that the team didn't buy the Skeeters name and that is why they're being forced to change it. Not much explanation but we shall see if the guy responds to some folks asking for more information.

So, if you read between the lines, Bergman just admitted to the Astros players getting a special version of the vax that includes a microchip that buzzes when the pitcher is going to throw off speed... Or at least, that's the rumor I'm going to start spreading.

are folks going to take the Bregman-offseason-workout cheese again?

we all did last year...and it spoiled to the tune of .777 OPS

It wasn't so much about any workout. It was that he wasn't healthy. He missed a big chunk of the year. When he did play he either was dealing with injuries. Look at the sprint #s and the fact he had wrist surgery as soon as the season ended. He's trying to address that this offseason with a different program. We know Bregman can play. Keep him healthy and good things will happen.

I saw something interesting on Twitter. Talking Yanks had a post creating a best lineup of all time. It got me thinking. Who goes in the Astros all time lineup? What's the batting order?

It's a nice off-season distraction.

Here's my lineup. Curious about others.

C- Biggio
2B - Altuve
1B - Bagwell
DH - Yordan
LF - Berkman
3B - Caminiti
RF - Wynn
SS - Correa
CF - Cedeno

Bench
Joe Morgan
Springer
Bregs
Cruz
Castro (need a backup catcher, thought Eusebio or Ferguson)

Rotation
Nolan
JV
Roy O
Mike Scott
JR Richard

Bullpen (gets a little murky)
Wags (CP)
Lidge (pre Pujols) (Setup)
Dave Smith
Sambito
Valverde
Dotel
Doug Jones

I wanted to put Dierker on the list, but I don't know who I'd bump from that rotation. Also, Bregs has better numbers than Cammy, but Cammy was a switch hitter. So, I put him in. There's a case to be made for Yuli, but Bags and Berkman have 1st locked down.

I'm curious to see what others come up with.

No Clemens or Pudge?

It's based on Astros performance.

An argument can be made for Clemens. Pudge was very pedestrian the year he was with the Astros.

The list is very subjective. This is my all time Astros team. If you put in Clemens, who do you pull from that rotation? JR maybe?

100% Clemens deserves a spot in the rotation. His time here was short but it was extremely dominate

on that note, I don't think there is a franchise that can say it has a better line up of pitchers than Astros. maybe the dodgers?

hell, if you are going based on best seasons, Randy Johnson deserves a mention.

Look at Cesar's numbers. And then remember that they were in the Dome before the fences were moved in. Same with Wynn.

And he didn't exactly have a stacked lineup to protect him.
