Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association plan to meet Monday, when the union is expected to present a counteroffer to the league’s proposal last week, sources tell ESPN.

This would be the second meeting between the sides since MLB locked out players on Dec. 2.

The union on Monday also rejected most if not all of what MLB had proposed in the sides' most recent meeting.
With the time-to-free-agency question gone, two of the major hurdles remaining are whether MLB could become amenable to any changes to revenue sharing; and what will happen to the other particularly contentious bucket, the time it takes a player to reach arbitration. The players' decision to drop their request to get players to free agency sooner wasn't particularly surprising, considering what the union has been talking about for years, publicly, is the plight of younger players.
The union's proposal to get players to arbitration after two years from November went unchanged on Monday. At the time, the league said it had no interest in discussing it.
how can the union give up on the time-to-free-agency issue?EastCoastAgNc said:Quote:

The meeting tomorrow is probably just the owners trying to extract more concessions from the players union. I'll believe it when I see it.
Because they dont really care about younger players?W said:

that's the biggest issue/problem for many young players...especially the ones that went the college route

Hitting+ is a metric that measures the true talent level of an MLB hitter through Statcast data, batted ball classification data, spray chart distribution, sprint speed interactions with specific types of batted balls, and plate discipline data. The metric is composed of two underlying metrics, Quality of Contact+ and Plate Discipline+, both of which are created through multiple regression models. The final metric stems from a final regression model that features both QOC+ and Plate Discipline+, as well as data on a player's quantity of contact, also known as Expected Balls in Play%. Overall, the purpose of Hitting+ is to utilize a hitter's underlying peripheral data to encapsulate their true ability at the plate.

i don't think it'll happen, owners proposed it, but only if lux tax threshhold is lowered. also remember players saying they didn't want it either, as they believed it would lead to owners pushing for a hard salary capLSCSN said:
any word on a salary floor? Its god awful watching the orioles and pirates play.
It actually tried to capture that more so than most stats.Ag_07 said:
Yeah I hear ya but to me that's talent.
Ability to hit to all fields, ability to hit both balls and strikes, clutch hitting.
It all adds up to a very talented hitter and I don't think this metric captures that.
But again no one metric is perfect. Just saying
