If there are not 4 infielders on the dirt when pitch is thrown, the play is dead and pitch is called a ball.

They tried out a rule that said 2 infielders on either side of 2nd base in the minors a couple of years back. I wonder if this is what they're thinking now.

Very easily. Look at every sport.

I dont think there should be "left/right" shift bans, but I would 100% be on board with keeping infielders in the infield and outfields in the outfield.

It it improves the amount of balls in play it would improve gameplay. Any rule change should be made with improving gameplay in mind, and I think thats what that would do.

Slide SS to right side of infield and then slide the LF to shallow RF.

Now we're right back to where we started.

IMHO it's got to be ban all shifting or ban none of it and it's absolutely insane to ban it all. So...Leave it alone and learn to hit oppo.

Maybe a sensible option could be a limit of total number on one side of second. Not necessarily where they're aligned but just a total.

How about changing the bases from a diamond to more of a trapezoid, and each team can alter the lengths? Lik at Minute Maid, home to first is 90 feet, first to second is 60 feet, but third to home is 180 feet?

If CBT went up 10M - let's assume the avg payroll goes up 1 M (obviously, some will take full advantage of the increase, some will keep doing what they're doing well under it.)

That comes to around 100 M increase from the previous CBA to the new offer from the owners. I have no idea how close my #s are, but a 3.3 M increase per team feels low.

Larger bases are supposed to support more stealing in the game.

How are 162 games still on the table after commissioner Rob Manfred postponed Opening Day and canceled the first two series of the season? Presumably, those two series can still be rescheduled, even if Opening Day is later than the originally scheduled March 31.

MLB and the MLBPA met today with several zoom calls as the owners presented a new formal proposal including flexibility on several issues. The owners gave the union a Tue night deadline to accept the deal, as @EvanDrellich reported, which would include a 162-game season/full pay.

Either way one side isn't any more to blame than the other. They're both at fault.

The owners lost me when they refused to negotiate for 3 months, called for a lockout, and waited until 10 days before to impose a "deadline" and begin negotiating

it seems too late to play 162 unless spring training is cut down to 3 weeks.

the players won't go for 6 double headers being added to the schedule.

and it's not good for the playoffs to be extended further into the NFL/college football season
