If you start a game 0-1

This is what I've learned
This thread is menstrual enough during the regular season when there is little at stake, most of the posters closely follow the team and know something about baseball.

Now add a bunch of yeasty noobs with a ton of passion and very little baseball knowledge during the World Series and this is what we get.

I don't mind, to tell you the truth. We'll get back to sensible baseball talk next spring and it's entertaining to have folks living and dying with every pitch. I remember getting really into baseball for the first time during the '86 season and that's exactly how I acted. Of course I was in middle school at the time, but I digress...
Its almost as entertaining as the fat men sitting in their office/home pounding away on a moronic website pretending they are the next coming of Tommy Lasorda. Its comical for sure.
That's funny and true true, but usually those oafs are casting their pearls around Premium or football. It's nice when they grace us with their presence.

I'd like to see this:

Altuve
Brantley
Gurriel
Alvarez
Correa
Tucker
Bregman
McCormick
Maldonado

All I did basically was swap Bregman and Gurriel.

Driving in from Frisco for the game. Going to be downtown a couple hours before the gates open. Looking for any suggestions/recommendations for lunch and hanging out.

Bregman is the one who looks lost. Even Altuve hit some hard balls foul. His timing is just a little lost. Chas didn't look great either so he might be on the bench as well. Machete is just…..awful.
Agree with this 100%. Altuve was close but early on quite a few pitches. He'll get the timing corrected. Bregman....I just don't know what's going on with him but it sure is tempting to equate cocky, arsehole Bregman of a couple of years ago with hitting success.

My grandfather was a Braves fan until he died at age 99. The reason: in Kerrville he couldn't get the Astros but got TBS.
It was always a little irritating to go to the Dome in the 80s to early 90s when the Cubs or Braves were in town because of the number of their fans due to WGN and TBS. The Cub games seemed like they had a LOT of loud fans.

One more observation - this year's team has had to be challenged all year to play at or near their best. Just look at the W-L record against over .500 teams versus under .500 teams and it's astonishing. You just can't write off their ability to "turn it on" when needed as they did against Boston. This team has had multiple leaders fill roles over the years rather than 1 or 2 leaders and I don't know if losing Springer (or perhaps Verlander) affected this team's ability to focus until they've been punched in the mouth. You would think Game 1 of the WS would have their attention.....but maybe not. I do think they will respond well tonight.

The local joke in the 80s and 90s was if you wanted to sell out the Astrodome, have the Cubs play the Braves.

With the way Bregman has played since he came back I think we are going to find hes been injured the whole time. He looks like he has no strength in his lower body at all.
MaxPower
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I don't think he's hurt but clearly hasn't gotten his strength back. It's interesting how the script has flipped from 2 years ago where Correa was injury prone and AB was the workhorse of the lineup.

He's definitely not right. His sprint speed is 25th percentile. Lowest it's been before this season was 55th percentile.

He's also not as patient as he used to be. BB% is down a good amount and his first pitch swing % is way up

I'd go to Eighth Wonder Brewery in EaDo for beer. Rodeo Goat a couple blocks away has good burgers.

On the downtown side of things I'd go to Phoenicia for a bite and hit up Biggio's for beer.

Good recommendation. I have parked over there and gotten the bike gondola ride over during the regular season. Not sure if you can do that now.

I'd even consider benching Bregman a game and putting Diaz in there. Move Tucker or Gurriel up to third. It's not like Bregman's been all-world on defense in the playoffs, and maybe a spot on the bench would light a fire under him.

What I really don't want to hear is that he's been playing hurt once the season is over. if you're hurt, sit down and let a healthy guy swing the stick.

History shows that Urquidy will likely only go 4-5 innings max. Keep the total runs at 2 or fewer and that will set the game up nicely to hand it over to Javier to bridge it to the big guns in the 7-8-9 innings. Obviously need run support on top of that as well.

Leave it as is, IMO. The offense has been elite this postseason. Don't change it because of one bad game.

Now, if we lay an egg today, use the NL rules to change things up in Atlanta.

Random gripe… LEARN THE BETWEEN INNINGS RULE!!!

Our fans are the worst out of all the ballparks I've been to about getting up during an at bat

Yay or nay?

All is moot if Altuve doesn't lead off with hits
absolutely 0 chance in hell this organization allows 3 straight lefty bats in a row
I don't understand how that fact is constantly ignored on this thread by folks!!!

I apply "between innings" to all sporting events. It seems like it would be common courtesy, but unfortunately that's not how people are.

I try not to get too mad about people getting up, I know most people aren't as into the action as I am, but the situation that sets me off to the point that I've actually said something before is when there's a long break in the action (like a quarter change, between innings, pitching change, etc) and they sit through the whole thing and then right as action is literally starting they get up and want out of the aisle.

Like, you had a four minute commercial break to get up, but NOW you're going?

A-freaking-men. I purposefully try to buy tickets in the middle of a row now because aisle seats are a pain with the nonstop traffic. It would help if the ushers would stop fans from returning to their seats until the half inning is over.

It's one thing to say Bregman just needs to work through it. But this isn't an isolated event, imo. He's providing almost nothing in the 3 hole.

As much as I hate them, the Dodgers dropped Bellinger to the 7 hole because he was struggling and it worked out in the playoffs with him providing big hits

I think flipping him and Yuli wouldn't be the worst idea but I'm okay if they keep it as is. We lost 6-2 so it wasn't just on Bregman

i think shuffling the lineup significantly messes with the players heads. They know what needs to happen, the ones who need better AB's know they need better AB's, they feel like they are letting their teammates down.

Don't go nuclear because of one game. Hell, we had horrible games 2 and 3 in the ALCS and Dusty didn't freak out and shuffle everyone, and they responded in games 4 - 6.

I was fully on board with keeping everything the same because our offense has been great during the playoffs, but I think it's time to switch Bregman and Yuli/Correa. Our bullpen was fantastic during the ALCS but I don't want to rely on them continuing to have a one point whatever ERA. We need runners on when Yordan gets up and Bregs isn't helping. He's a groundout/K looking machine.

A lot of people do it thinking that the bathrooms or concessions will be slower since they are back in action. It makes sense, but time it better to do so right at the end of the break.

Shane Reynolds was on ESPN 97.5 this morning and had some really good info on pitch tipping and the use of data to figure out what pitches were coming in certain situations. Worth a listen for those interested
