I wouldn't say that. Lose game 3, but win 4-5 and we are good

However if the Red Sox win 2/3 in Boston I'll be very nervous.

We just need to win 1 at Fenway and get home field back on our side.

For me that's what the goal is. Any more is house money.

Just realized....If we don't win 1 we're done. So yeah...Win 1 in Boston

This is correct

I just checked, and the first team to win 4 games will advance per MLB rules

Greinke wasn't getting stretched after he went on the IL with neck stiffness and came back the next to last day of the regular season.

It just wasn't happening.

Could have made progressively longer starts in the place of Garcia completely, who has only made poor contributions in the playoffs

He may have not been starter ready but could certainly go more than the 1 or 2 innings we will now get from him
How was Greinke suppose to have been stretched out when he did not come off the IL until the last week of the regular season? Longer bullpen sessions? Try to push the issue and have him have a couple of starts for the Skeeters? Maybe if Garcia had let the club know they would have tried this or maybe they would have been even more cautious with Zach.

I know that part. It was 2-3-2 format that got me all confused.

We just need to settle down and not let walks kill us.

Ironically, depending on the situation, I'd be much more forgiving of a bases loaded walk assuming we didn't give into one of their best hitters.

The problem is when you start walking people with no runners on, then they get a hit and suddenly it's first and third with no outs.

Sure, it's possible that walk could have been a home run, but it's very unlikely. Any given at bat you have a > .700 chance of getting an out.

I really wish our pitching staff would recognize that and make them legitimately earn their base runners.

Thankfully our bullpen has settled down a bit in that regard. Would not have thought it'd be such a problem
for Framber and Garcia

This! Walks are absolutely killing us. Walks and getting behind in counts.

Ironic thing is, one of the talking points going into the series was how Boston's chase percentage was so much higher than ours. Definitely hasn't been the case. Partly because we haven't even been close to the zone.

I think I called it when it was announced. Everything this guy touches turns into a massive failure.

The thing about the walks that gets me - other than Alvarez when he plays left field and he's getting better - there are no weak links on defense. The opposite- they're amazing on defense, one of our strengths. I take my chances letting them put the ball in play and let our fielders do the work. Better than a free base.

Hopefully wake won't be as much if an issue in game 3. Urquidy tends to load the syringe zone, sometimes to a fault, so it gives the defense a chance to make plays.

Any update on Garcia?

Not going to lie after yesterday I'd rather him come out of the pen if needed in game 6-7 than start game 6

Knee strain in his push off leg. I can't see how they keep him on the roster. They can't be a man down.

As long as we can stabilize the pitching staff for the first 5-6 innings, I think Tuve, CC, Bregs, Yuli, Yordan, Brantley and Tuck are chomping at the bit to explode at Fenway.

They actually thrive with the booing and hostile crowd. Deep down, after the roller coaster ride the past few years, they wanted to be at Fenway to make a statement in regards to how much this "cheating" bs actually mattered.

I wish baseball was more like football where you could just randomly sign street free agents for injuries. I remember one year Matt Schaub got hurt and the Texans picked up 47 year old Jeff Garcia and 83 year old Jake delaHomme out of nowhere.

I know we all love Luis, but I think this is a mistake. He has shown nothing to prove he can pitch well in the postseason.

Disagree.

If we went 2-0 at MMP the. 1-2 is al we needed at Fenway. But since they split in MMP we really need to win 2 to not be in a giant ass hole. Depending on how it plays if we'd be in 2 or 3 win or go home games in a row. That's never good.

Great news about Luis

I'm weird, but I prefer Luis over Bielak

It has to get approved to remove him anyway. Maybe there isn't anything significant enough to make that happen.

I would prefer Solomon over Bielak for sure, just because of the unknown factor
But he still had a 4.70 era in the minors this year

Prefer a healthy Garcia

Tough because we'd have to leave him off the WS roster if we took him off and he could be better by then. Hopefully, he's available to pitch a couple innings for Game 4. If he sucks, then we can drop him for Solomon and let him heal.

If Garcia can go then I'd prefer that- we'll, if he's healthy and can go. No more covering it up.

I have to think Luis will want another shot at the Sox after yesterday. I'd prefer the wounded and cornered animal to the fresh meat.
