So when will we find out when we play Thursday - my guess is since it's only the 2 American League games it will either be late afternoon (3 or 4) or an evening game (7 ish)

Unless something strange happens we will get early games. The other ALDS will likely have NYY/BOS

I honestly think the white Sox are a team a lot of people are excited to watch. So that could help us out. Plus we are the villains and people want to watch us hoping we lose

From a TV perspective I think Houston/Chicago is a better draw than Tampa/Boston

That won't be how the league or networks view it. White Sox are second fiddle to the Cubs in Chicago. Tampa may not be interesting, but if it's NYY or Boston, they'll definitely get the night games.

Correct. There are very few "national brands" in baseball. NYY and Boston both are, along with Cubs. St Louis and Dodgers at or near that status. I would guess that most any game featuring one of those teams would get the nighttime slot unless there was significant travel considerations.

The fact that no hitter will reach 200 hits this year in the major leagues is a big problem, in my opinion. Load management and alterations to the ball have gone too far,

Home run reliance also is a factor, as we've seen with Altuve.

I get that there is numerical "value" in slugging, but the Earl Weaver method leads to a lot of all-or-nothing play that I don't think serves the game all that well.

Just got back from the A&M and trying to catch up.

We clinched home field.
TED robbed a 3 run HR and later hit an oppo taco 2 run.
Yordan and Castro continue to mash.
Odo still kind of sucks.
We still got a shot at a 4 way tie for the wild cards.
And if we win tomorrow my preseason prediction is dead on.

Looks like Rod Carew in 72 is last time someone won AL with .318 average. Typically in .330s

Definitely emphasizes it's a different game in terms of average.

So if the Giants and Dodgers end up tied after today, I guess they will play Monday and then the loser plays in the wild card Tuesday. Is that right? That's crazier than what's happening in the American League I think.
