Alex Cora on the Red Sox pregame Zoom regarding the 2017 Astros: "People are going to ask why we did it? I don’t know, man. We just did it. We just did it. And we put ourselves in a bad situation.”

I might be biased but I like his responses way better than AJ's.
Right. Going into a season with elite starting pitching and Harris/Pressly/Osuna closing out games is a luxury, not the norm. We needed to spend some time early in the season putting our young guys into higher leverage spots to see what they're made of. Our regular season goal isn't just to win games. It's to win as many games as possible while developing talent and keeping the horses fresh for the stretch run. Optimizing those things is difficult and can leave the organization in a tough spot if the guys we're counting on to step up don't do so.W said:
it's kind of the Astros way.
there is no sense of urgency to win games in the 1st half of the season. I wonder if things would be different if the A's had a 5 game lead.
but with Oakland milling around too. There is no rush to play anybody
The Red Sox are 28-3 when they score at least four runs in a game.

Red Sox and Astros were both 26-18...

Red Sox since: 6-2
Astros: 2-6
Astros have blown seven of 12 save chances in May. The bullpen’s 10 losses in May are the most in MLB in that span. The 5.20 relief ERA this month is 26th in MLB.

Beat the Red Sox, Yankees, and Dodgers in the same post-season.Hulla Baller said:EastCoastAgNc said:Alex Cora on the Red Sox pregame Zoom regarding the 2017 Astros: "People are going to ask why we did it? I don’t know, man. We just did it. We just did it. And we put ourselves in a bad situation.”

Can someone remind me what we did wrong again? I still don't get it.
I'm sure there's way more context to what he said that is missing there. He probably gave that response out of frustration after getting asked a bunch of questions in a row about it.maca1028 said:EastCoastAgNc said:Alex Cora on the Red Sox pregame Zoom regarding the 2017 Astros: "People are going to ask why we did it? I wonder what his excuse is for 2018?
"I don't know why I did it...again, I just did it...again."
I call bull**** on that.
Blue Jays have a fairly awful bullpen, and have all year.bluefire579 said:There are teams whose bullpens did worse?????EastCoastAgNc said:Astros have blown seven of 12 save chances in May. Looking at the Eduardo Rodriguez for tomorrow's game. This game is a candidate to get out of hand early if our bats are going well early again. He's struggled quite a bit lately losing his last 3 games and giving up 13 runs in 15 innings. Plus a few of our guys have had some good success in the few ABs they have had against him.
As long as we get no complaints if he makes the first out at thirdHarry Dunne said:You're right, I was too harsh. But he could have reacted to it. I wouldn't even call it a TOOTBLAN, and it would have been super heads up if he had been engaged enough to be ready to move, but he could have easily been on 3rd if he had reacted quickly.
He needs about 300 more of those to make up for the foul ballBregxit said:
