I have donned my 2007 Hunter Pence jersey to honor Opening Day.

I bought it his rookie year for a trip to Chicago to see the Astros play the Cubbies with two of my friends who I went to A&M with in the 90s.

Only two of us could make it to the first game - day game - matching Astro killer Carlos Zambrano against Astro killer for the wrong reasons Jason Jennings. We agreed that if the Astros could avoid being no-hit, we'd consider it a victory. Oh, and the game was on Friday the 13th.

Through 3 innings, Zambrano had allowed no hits and had 5 strikeouts before Pence broke it up with a single. Cubs won 6-0 on a combined 5-hitter. Astros lit it up with 4 errors.

The Angels will provide hope in April when Shohei Ohtani makes four starts, and then waste another year of Mike Trout's career when Ohtani misses his next 12. They'll hit, and Raisel Iglesias will anchor the pen better than it's been, and can maybe, maybe stay in touching distance long enough to acquire another starter before the deadline. Apparently the Rangers play here as well.

Speaking of the Rangers, how funny is it that they only way they make national headlines by having unlimited attendance for opening day?
