I get that to an extent but it almost feels like an old way of thinking. Winning a game in May shows up on the standings the same way winning a game in September would.

Yeah. That 3-2 pitch to Gallo is big. Yes, Ivey missed his spot. But shouldn't have mattered when the umps zone for everyone else was 2"+ off the plate and below the zone. That pitch was well within his zone. Instead of being strike 3 it was a walk and next batter hits a two run double.

He missed a lot of 3-2 pitches. And everyone went the rangers way.

I think it's more about player endurance than games meaning more later in the season. If you trot him out there for two innings regularly in May & June he'll be on the downside come October.

Alvarez striking out with bases loaded, and then in the 10th Brantley and Bregman both got out to end the inning stranding a runner at 3rd

That was the real difference in a win and loss last night. Your 2-4 hitters have to come through in those situations

When you look at the **** that's getting called strikes vs. Alvarez that have no business being called it's not surprising he's been chasing stuff a bit the last few games. Umps with terrible zones and low consistency really screw with the way these guys approach an AB and a bad call early in the AB can have them chasing stuff they would normally take.

Yeah it obviously hurt, but you can't always rely on everyone to come through all the time.

The bottom line is that we tied it up, we should have managed the bullpen better in preparation for extra innings. Pressly should have been reserved for the most difficult part of their lineup.

Abreu also made a colossal mistake of dancing around Joey Gallo, a guy flirting with the Mendoza line BA, to pitch to the guy that's been the hottest on the Rangers all season. I don't know if that was Abreu's direction or Dusty's, but that is some of the lowest IQ strategy I've ever seen in a high leverage situation.
