Even for a "prove it" year, that seems kind of low, right?

In a year when who knows what finances and cash flow will look like? He should be thankful. Not to mention a right handed power hitter going to a right handed power hitter's wet dream.

there's no way teams can play a 162-game schedule at full payroll without fans.

maybe the Yankees could do that or the teams with very low payroll (< $50 MM).

it would make 2021 a greater financial disaster than 2020

I would think fans would be back by the normal start. Vaccines rolling in. Plus other sports are already allowing fans in.

At 100%?

I could see the teams in Texas, Florida, Georgia, and maybe others getting to 50% capacity by April.

but the teams in California, New York, and the Midwest...maybe 25% by June if they're lucky

Nobody is close to 100%. Some states are still at 0 and 25% seems to be the max.

which raises a very interesting question. without 100% attendance, many teams won't be able to make their full payroll. will the players agree to a season in which Yankees say "we can pay no matter what" but A's say "we can't pay full salary"?

I was more talking about I think they will be close to 100% next year.

But ABL just had packed houses for baseball.

Mrs. Marvin and I were talking about spring training, and trying to decide if wanted to make the trip in a couple of months. It's one of our favorite things to do, but I highly doubt players will be accessible to fans if MLB sticks with the normal schedule. Maybe not even until '22 with respect to autographs, photo opportunities and practice field watching.

This sucks. No news, no activity, no access, nothing. Throw me a bone, baseball!

Well I'm glad he is hopeful... I will believe it when I see it.

A lot of one-deals so far. I wonder if George will take a one year deal with the Astros. That way he can get a proper send-off from the fans.

A fan can dream, right?

For $3M, you could roll the dice and even put him in the pen.

We're the team that turns talented but mediocre pitchers into stars. I would have like to have seen us try with Wacha.

Yeah I know he's regressed quite a bit but man $3M nowadays seems like the league minimum.

I'd have loved to see us sign him at that price.

13 games and 2 that do not involve SoCal or the NE corridor. That's baseball in a nutshell.

Why whoop?
as an aggie, i often express joy in little things by saying 'whoop' is that weird? is it just me?

anyway, i prefer tk and blummer broadcasting the games versus the espn broadcast crew

so Wacha went from $9 MM last year with the Mets to $3 MM this year with the Rays.

the remaining free agents have to be terrified.

Reddick should be planning on retirement at this point

Wacha was also flat out terrible last year. That didn't help his case much

ESPN is one of the only ways I can watch games since YouTube TV doesn't carry AT&T Sportsnet Southwest

Roku + SmartDNS + MLB.tv = Astros

He's made a cool $60M already...he can retire if he wants to or he can play for a "measly" $2-3M.

Restaurant workers should be terrified. Free agents will have to settle for being a little less ridiculously overpaid.

definitely a hard pass on playing in Canada...COVID, taxes, taxes, more taxes...

Citi Field is okay for right-handed hitters. Not so much for left-handed hitters. George usually went over the Crawford Boxes with room to spare
Ag_07

Both of those seem like shltty places to play.

Although for the amount money he'll make I'd make it work.
