That's BS. The Astros should force a game cancellation in Oakland and force MLB to schedule a DH back in Houston to make up both.

They gave up some pretty good players for Clevinger. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.
I didn't know about contract status for the guys SD got. So it might end up being good for multiple years.
While he's good maybe I'm in the minority of thinking clevinger isn't elite. They paid for elite. Hasn't he had some huge blowups in the playoffs?

The Padres have traded away 9 of their top 20 prospects, plus 4 players from their active roster. Nola, Rosenthal, Moreland and Clevinger should all contribute immediately, but San Diego is definitely rolling the dice in what is a crapshoot year.
I posted in the trade deadline thread and agree. They're getting some guys, but how many of them are difference makers. I don't know all their prospects, but for a while Padres have had one of the best farm systems (on paper). They seem to be shredding it for good, not great players.
If he isn't a locker room headache then it'll be worth it.
He only makes $4MM this year then 2 more years of arbitration until he's a FA.

It'll be a minor thing like throwing more first-pitch strikes or more changeups and he'll be effective again.
No reason to be scared, but just makes them a little better. He's an improvement over Montas and as good as Friers based on 2020 #s alone.
Maybe the A's will leave Fiers off the playoff roster and he can talk to the Atlantic about how they are cheating and faking COVID tests to manipulate the schedule.

Lynn would have worried me much more than Minor. If this is their big upgrade, ok.
Rangers screwed up badly not dealing Minor and/or Lynn last year. They would have gotten a lot more, especially for Minor. If only they had listened.

And hopefully the Arlington head office with throw in several more towels and trade Lynn and others this afternoon. Ten games against an even further depleted Rangers would not suck.
